Yes you are correct. It means it has 4 cores that run at 2.4Gz. Same with Core 2 Duo's. They have 2 cores that run at __ Ghz.

Just so you know, AMD is launching their version of the Quad Core chip at the end of this month. Some reports have popped up saying that the chip will be faster then the Intel Quad Core.
