It took CITI longer than I liked, but they cleared up the charges on my card a few months ago, including the foriegn money conversion fees.

Since then though, they have raised my minimum payment twice and my interest rate at least once. And I pay my bills on time and have hardly used my new card with them since the Saudi fraud problem on the old one.

Anyone else have this experience with the payment minimum or interest rates? Or is this related to the collapse of the real estate market and the banks are making all of us pay for the defaulted mortgages?

Another Business one needs to be aware of is these online photo shops that use credit cards to process orders. Unless the website is incripted don't do it! They'll sell lists...

If a store is selling credit card lists, it doesn't matter whether or not their website is encrypted. Encryption means that your data is secure between your computer and the merchant, not between your computer and the credit card processor. The merchant will have your card number regardless.

If you're buying from an unfamiliar or likely untrustworthy store, consider using a temporary/virtual card number that card companies like Citibank provide.

EPOCH.COM MASTER CARD FRAUD

Hello,

I live in OZ but travel a fair bit through South Africa, London, Singapore and Australia. Whilst in London I was notified by my Australian bank that one of my Master Card Debit Cards had been "compromised" - according to information received from the Master Card organisation. I immediately transfered the money on that card out to another card AND then requested my bank to cancel said card.

MC org did not supply ANY details of said "compromise".

A month later my bank informed me of FIVE suspicious charges from EPOCH.COM for A$39.77 - each a few days apart. Funny thing is they are from my NEW MC DC which is still sitting at my Perth Australia bank awaiting my pick up. I am still travelling overseas. I have NEVER used said card and am only aware of the last four digit numbers due to advice from my bank.

Other funny thing is that first charge to this NEW card happened a couple of weeks BEFORE I asked my bank for a new MC DEbit card !!!!!!!

This all means that Master Card are COMPROMISED internally somehow and a scam is draining money from "MY" card even before I ask for a NEW card.

Given current tough times in finance world I have to ask - "Is this scam an officially MC organised take from MC clients ????"

Whatever it is none of us should be liable for a single cent ..................

We might even have legal recourse because of the severe hassles caused by loss of use of our own cards and charges by MC to our account BEFORE we even asked for a NEW card and number ?????
