thedigitalnerds.com SCAM STORE!
I searched for and found the best price ($219) on a Canon SD750, and placed an online
order with TheDigitalNerds.com, and received an email telling me to call them and confirm
the order. After an attempt to high pressure me into purchasing a high capacity battery at
an outrageous price stating that the original, enclosed battery would "only work for 20
minutes", and a 1 gig storage card again at a high price, I refused.
He sarcastically told me that he would "do me a favor and cancel the order" since without the "extras", the camera is unusable. I received another email a few minutes later informing me that "due to a backorder of 6-8 weeks", my order was canceled and not to re-order.
Please be aware that thedigitalnerds.com and digitalsuperdeals.com has the same hours and customer service number.
Just trying to help you avoid another scam... |

I am so MAD!! I just had a problem with these people. I wish I would have known about this site before I even tried to order.
I ordered a Canon S3 IS digital camera. I was curious about the price because it was $245 - which was at least $50 lower than I had seen it anywhere. So I was wondering if the camera was new. I called them told them I was thinking of ordering and wanted to know if the camera was new or refurbished. He asked me what camera? I told him the above stated camera. He said "OH yes it's new" I said ok great that is what I needed to know.
I hung up and proceeded to place my order. I then get an email telling me "to call and confirm the order".....WTF??? This makes me wonder right off the bat. So I call. Then the guy proceeds to try and get me to order a sd card (for $149 ) cause the one that comes with it will only hold 3 pictures. Well I decline and tell him I have already found one that I will be getting. Then he says " may I ask why you purchased a refurbished camera instead of a new one?" I said " Well this is suppose to be a new camera as I just called and the gentleman told me it was new". He says " OH we have a new one but it is $345." I say " Well just go ahead and cancel this order because I called and was told this was new, so just cancel it." He says " NO I will not be cancelling this order". I said " Oh yes you will cancel this order!" He says "No I won't, not until you say PLEASE!!!" At this point I am so PO'd I blew up! I said "You will cancel this order or I will call my cc company and through this into dispute and he will be get a chargeback from the cc company." He tells me " go ahead cause this will go to collections and ruin your credit"
I am livid at this point. My husband then gets on the phone and they have verbals (very rude I might add) between them and then he gets hung up on.
I called my cc company and explained what happened. They went ahead and cancelled my card.
These people are HORRIBLE. I am just hoping now that they don't try to do identity theft with the information they have from me now. |

Reason to believe the folks are also doing business on Ebay under another name. I don't know if I can list the name or not. Let me know if that is ok.
I came to this conclusion from reading their feedback. Alot of the same sort of complaints about having to call and verify the order and rude high pressure sales of more items.

I agree, the digital nerds is a scam store
I recently placed an order online for a Canon S3 IS and was emailed that the order was received and the camera was in stock but had to call and confirm the order. I called and was also pressured to purchase high-priced accessories, I refused and told them I was interested in purchasing only the camera. Later the same day I checked my email and received this message:
"We thank you for your order and appreciate you shopping with us .
Due to the product you ordered being out of stock for 6-8 weeks from today's date. We have cancelled the order . when or if we get the product again in stock soon will send you an email to place an order please do not resubmit your order again . sorry again and thanks for your understanding ."
Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Run away from any dealings with these guys!

same experience today 6/25/07
Thedigitalnerds have a great rating on many of the shopping comparison urls, so I purchased a (thought it was new) canon powershot s2 is for $269. I got the phone call a bit later. He tried to sell me the card starting at $169, finally at $89. I told him I wanted a new camera as represented on his url. He said at that price it was refurbished. i didn't want that, so he canceled the order. You are right. It is a scam. |

thedigitalnerds - another almost victim
I consider myself a sharp shopper, but I have to admit I made a mistake with thedigitalnerds.
After shopping online for an Olympus 770SW, I located this "store." Their price was $293.80 including ground shipping, which was about $25 better than any other offer. Based on the bogus ratings on everyprice.com, i placed an order. Next morning, I got an email asking me to call and confirm the order before it would be shipped. For some unknown reason, that made me suspect something was up, so I did a search on the firm, and found this site, and all the scam stories.
Knowing that they would probably tell me that the camera was out of stock, I planned to immediately ask if the product was in stock when i called. After I gave my order number, the "sales artist" commented that this was a nice camera, and asked if it was for me or was i buying it as a gift. I countered with "can you tell me if the camera is in stock?" The sales clerk immediately became abusive, asking me why didn't i answer his question, and so i apologized. He then said, out of stock, the order is cancelled. Being inquisitive, I waited a half hour, called back, and got a different clerk. Right off the bat, I asked if the camera was in stock, and he said it was. I then asked why was I told that it was out of stock when i called earlier. The clerk asked for my order number, and then said "why are you being smart calling back and checking on us?" Before I could answer him, he said, "it's in stock but it is refurbished." I responded that that was not the way it was advertised on line. He stated that rb was at the bottom of the item description, so I asked where that was defined as refurbished? (by the way, if you check the site, it does say rb, but no one would ever know that this supposed to mean refurbished). He cut me off, and simply said "look, if you want a new model, it's $339 - yes or no?" I said no, and he replied "ok, your order is cancelled."
I'll never make that mistake again, and hopefully, this vignette will keep others from the number one camera scam shop on the net!!!

Same scam was just pulled on me by thedigitalnerds when I tried to by a fujifilm S6000 camera. Got the confirmation request email and then the fast talking sales artist. The strong New York accent told me I was in trouble as soon as he answered the phone. I told him "NO" to the camera case, battery, memory card and extended warranty. He then he told me I would get the camera in 4 weeks. When I said that it seemed awfully long, it said "well that's how long it takes".
Immediately after I got the previously mentioned cancellation email.
I called back and pointed out that their web page said the camera was available. He said that meant it was available "on the market", and that when they got the camera in 6 to 8 weeks they would email me to see if I still wanted it. Of course I don't believe him.
Now to check with the credit card company to make sure they didn't charge me.....
