B&H Photo in New York City quickly impresses a web surfer with a clean interface, wide selection, and undenyably great prices. That said, I will have a tough time ordering from them again. I like to forgive 70x7 times, but at this point I will need to see something change in them before I am ready to do that.
I made a detailed posting here:
http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=78293 The posting basically states that I ordered nearly $1,000 in a DSLR camera + lens. Though I got what I ordered and there was no obvious physical damage to the product, the packaging was horrendous. Dissatisfied, I sent the package back to B&H and asked them to try again. B&H had the courtesy to not challenge my refund, and they also sent me a new order, not just repackaging the same product (check the serial #s). I was flabbergasted to receive the same shoddy packing job the second time as the first.
In both cases, the boxes were severely beaten and tattered. There was insufficent tape to seal the box completely, and instead of the bubble wrap completely securing the camera and lens on all sizes, the items were shoved into a corner of the box, with the wrapping set in the opposite end. A fifth grade flunkout could do a better job.
The products did not appear to have any physical damage but a camera and lens are not highly specialized equipment, they are built of expensive glass and small moving parts. Out of just about ANYTHING in the world that you might think to buy, this would be the last on my list of what I would accept for this type of a job.
