Is Alienware our friend? </3

So, I got a scholarship to a new film school at the start of this year.
I was surprised to learn that, unlike my old school they were completely PC based. Not a familiar white or silver Mac in site.
I've always used Macs and purchased a modified PowerBook for around AU$4K last year, and other than a small amount of software that both courses have used, my beloved laptop is now almost useless when it comes to class work.

My PowerBook has served me well with both my film work and my blasphemous tendency to game on it... But I think it's time I purchased a powerful Laptop, which can cover all my needs.

I've heard a mixed reaction from Alienware customers, and I'm wondering if it's worth risking the "Horrible customer service" for what seems to be some really nice machines.

So have any of you found your Alienware laptop to work as promised? Or should I look elsewhere?

<3

All opinions are welcome... I'm not sure what to do. >: (

I'd personally say no to alienware. I'd much rather work with Dell Small Business or EPP if going in that direction. But in actuality take a good look at www.powernotebooks.com and see if something will fit your needs ASUS is usually a good bet. They've got stellar reviews on RR and some pretty stout notebooks as well. Also a good resource for researching laptops is www.notebookreview.com . They can probably help you better than I.

Forget Alienware, you pay premium prices and what you get for that is the name,a fancy case, poor quality work, and even worse support when the system doesn't work.

Alienware owned by dell = Dell is being sued by the attorney general for making support so hard to reach that consumers are left with broken computers for weeks if not months at a time.; So Alienware = headache
