Memory Suppliers.com is NOT to be Trusted

Since there was not enough room to post everything I wanted to in my review I am reposting it here:

Horrid; the worst experience I have ever had. I paid over $400 for a non-ecc rambus memory. First, they were 3 days late sending it out (they sent it out after I called asking where my "next day air" package was). Second, I paid and ordered NON-ECC memory (even said it on the packing slip) but they sent me ECC memory. After I put it in my computer, my computer crashed and that is when I found out it was ECC. I put my old memory back in and now my computer will not boot up. I have to buy a new computer. I sent the memory back (with signature required) they received it on the 8th and said nothing. Finally, I emailed them on the 17th and they refuse to give me back my money. They are saying can only do an exchange. I am reporting them to a number of agencies now. >:-(

Update #1 (3/3/07): It pays to complain here folks. Not more than 10 to 20 minutes after posting this, I received a call from Yan. I told him what happened and he got my money back for me. At least one person in this company knows how to do their job right. The returns people need to go back to Customer Service 101 and Returns 101, and whoever dropped the ball on getting out the memory on time needs to get back on the ball. Either that or some mass firing needs to happen so new people who can do the jobs can get hired. Yan you need to find a better company to work for, these guys stink. You are too good for them; you actually know how to treat a customer right.

Update #2 (3/30/07): Here I thought I was done dealing with this company. They gave my money back, but now it seems they are trying to take it again. I just checked my visa account to see if I needed to make a payment and do you know what I just found? They have taken out the 442.50 for the memory I bought and returned and was credited for weeks ago by Yan (after much hassle with the returns department). I have called my visa company and am trying to get a hold of Yan. What kind of company does this to people?

Update #3 (3/30/07): I just talked to Yan, Customer Service Manager at Memory Suppliers (MS). He told me MS helped itself to my visa account for the $442.50 they had refunded me because I didn’t change my review to a positive one.

A representative of MS had called me a couple times after they refunded the money asking me if I would change my review and I said I couldn’t. I did update it to say my money was refunded, but to say I was in anyway satisfied with the company would be a lie. She NEVER said that I would be recharged for not changing my review to a glowing one.

Do yourself a favor. There are many vendors of memory sticks out there. Do business with one that considers customer service a real value, and that will take responsibility for sending the right product to you. Note: my computer was destroyed when I installed the wrong memory. It was only after it was ruined that I realized MS had sent me something other than what I had ordered. I have never once asked MS to make any restitution for the loss of my computer. I returned the memory sticks in good order. They received them in good order. There is no reason for anyone else to deal with this miserable excuse for a business.

I am now sending this to my bank’s fraud department and am contacting the state Attorneys’ General office, among other agencies.
Worst. Company. Ever.

Update #4 (4/20/07): I am still dealing with this corrupt company. Since 3/30 I have sent in a dispute over the charge with my Visa company and because of a review I saw on ResellerRatings.com:
(http://www.resellerratings.com/selle...omme nt245376 )

I have changed my Visa account number. I have also filed with the BBB and with the WA Attorney General’s office.

The BBB reports that MS has an “unsatisfactory record”: http://www.chicago.bbb.org/commonrep...l?bid=16000957

In a recent reply to my comments Yan sent the agent helping me from the WA Attorney General's office, the following:

"Ms. ***’s story is somewhat correct, however it is not 100% accurate. I took the liberty and refunded Ms. *** for the initial return of the memory modules, in hopes of resolving the issue. However, owner of the company frequently checks www.resellerratings.com to see if there are any unsatisfied customers and why they are unsatisfied. After he had seen Ms. ***s review he overruled my initial refund for her purchase and turned it into a Store Credit as according to our Store Policy. Therefore at this moment Ms. *'s has a Store Credit that could be used at any time and will not expire.

Respectfully,

Yan Bashkin
800-979-9707 x 227
yan@memorysuppliers.com"

So my money was stolen back over a month after my initial refund because the owner didn't like my negative review of the company.

After all of this I have to wonder how many of the positive reviews on this site for this company are legit. How many other people have had their money held hostage until they posted a positive review here? How many of the positive reviews here are fakes to make Memory Suppliers look good and to drown out the negative reviews? All you need is an order number and possibly an address to post a review and its not like Memory Suppliers doesn’t have a record of all their own orders.

Before you order from this company do your research. Put the reviews in order from lowest reviews to highest and look at what people have said. Search online for comments about this company. Look at the BBB regarding this company. If you have had problems with this company, speak out! Either here and/or in a review. Report your problems to the Attorney General's office for your state and/or theirs (IL) and the BBB.

Good reviews are given when things are done right the first time; not after you had to scream and fight for reasonable service.
*******************************************

This company is telling me that I can use the store credit to get memory for my old computer or more memory for my new computer. That is like ordering dog food from a company, getting bad dog food that kills my dog and then the company saying they “sincerely apologize” for killing my dog and then asking if I would like a different brand of food for my DEAD dog or if I would like some food for my new puppy. Why would I order anything from them after all that??? This company is just nuts.

amaroq3, Welcome to RR.

Have you contacted the staff here at RR about this matter? Mainly,

That may be a violation of the WEB SITE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE AGREEMENT. That is up to the staff here to decide, but IMO that could violate this rule;

Return Policy:
*
All products sold by Memory Suppliers may be returned for refund within 30 days of purchase. Memory Suppliers will also cover shipping back to us for up to $4.95.
*
Before returning any product, a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number must be assigned prior to any return shipment and clearly marked on the outside of the package. For product return authorization or status of your return please email us at rma@memorysuppliers.com
*
No restocking fees, and we will pay for the insured shipping of the memory back to our warehouse (up to $4.95). Initial shipping charges are not refundable.
*
To protect our company against abuse of our return policy, wholesale/high volume ($250.00 or more) returns may be subject to a store credit only, unless otherwise indicated by the returns department.
*
USB Flash Drives and other custom imprinted products are not returnable after they have been printed and orders in progress are not cancelable. The 30 day money back guarantee is not applicable to custom imprinted merchandise. Merchandize ordered per customer specifications is not refundable and orders for custom merchandise are not cancelable while in the fulfillment process.
Note the BOLD text highlighted by me, IMO since they already credited your CC, then that transaction was approved by the 'Returns Department'. Any problem the company owner has with that should be brought up with his own staff. They authorized it, therefore they should be penalized, not you.

I have had a few emails with Lara at RR. In my last email I sent her a copy of the actual message sent to the agent at WA AG office. It had my case number so she could verify it if need be. It also didn't have my last name bleeped out like the version I posted here. I haven't heard anything from her since. I am hoping she is just busy.

I have linked the BBB report in my latest update of my review as I think that right there says a lot about the company. Needless to say I kicked myself for not looking at that before I went to MS in the first place. I have an abbreviated version of my first post here in my review. Put the reviews in order from low to high and you will see it on 2/19. Thanks for the 3rd link. I will add a negative review there too later today. People need to know about this company so they can protect themselves.

I didn't see that return policy until after I needed to return the item as its farther into the site itself. If you visit the site this is on the front page:

Quote:
Welcome to MemorySuppliers.com! At MemorySuppliers.com, "Exceptional service and high quality products meet super low prices." We work hard everyday to make your upgrading experience as easy and painless as possible. We will absolutely make sure of your complete satisfaction with our unconditional 30 day money back guarantee, lifetime warranty, and guaranteed same business day shipping. YOUR SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED! We strive to earn our customers' respect, repeat business, and referrals. If you are a returning customer, welcome back. If you're new to Memory Suppliers, please give us a try... We won't disappoint you. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of our current and future customers! We truly do appreciate the opportunity to be your memory upgrade solution.
Unconditional is quite a contradiction to the return policy. Even then the policy states:
Quote:
To protect our company against abuse of our return policy, wholesale/high volume ($250.00 or more) returns may be subject to a store credit only, unless otherwise indicated by the returns department.
This should be on the front page and I could see it being true for someone who constantly returns stuff. In my case it was my first time shopping with them, they screwed up and it cost me a whole new computer to fix. I returned the memory sticks in the same shape that I received them just a few days after receiving them and trying the out. They have them now and I am sure they will resell them. You are also correct; they saw fit to return me my money once so I should not be penalized if the owner didn't agree with an employee's choice. But as I have found out, that is not how this company actually works.

I now interpret the may and unless from their return policy to mean: You may get your money back if you write a negative review on ResellerRatings.com, but unless you change the review to a positive one, they will take the refunded money back.

Well I received a letter from my bank. The bank had to force the transaction through in order to get my money back so now MS is complaining. Yan's letter to them (vs the one he sent the WA AG agent) is saying that the refund was a "mistake".

I also noticed they have changed their refund policy a little bit:
Quote:
Return Policy:

All products sold by Memory Suppliers may be returned for refund within 30 days of purchase. Memory Suppliers will also cover shipping back to us for up to $4.95.

To protect our company against abuse of our return policy, wholesale/high volume ($250.00 or more) returns may be subject to 25% restocking fee or a store credit only, unless otherwise indicated by the returns department.

The 25% restocking fee is new but it kinda contradicts the comment above it (bolded). This company has a real problem with consistency. hmmm

Glad to see that this problem worked out to your satisfaction.
I'll keep an eye one this company for awhile to see if any other oddities happen.

Its not quite done, I have 10 days to send a reply to Yan's argument or I'll get charged the 442.50 again. I have something typed up and am sending a print out of the letter he sent to Michael (WA AG agent), a printout of the first page of the site, another of the returns policy, and a print out of another review off of RR. After I was recharged I found a review by a man named Redcrane that had to dispute charges from MS 3 or 4 times before he finally changed his card number. Here is the link: http://www.resellerratings.com/selle...omme nt245376

His review is the reason I changed my card number. I wish I had seen that review sooner when I first got my refund. I could have changed my card numbers then and not had any charges to dispute now. (where is the "doh!" smiley when ya need one?)

I know things will work out but I am soo tired of dealing with this crappy company. /sigh

PriceGrabber.com = not a good review site

I tried to post a review on PriceGrabber.com. You have a very little amount of space to use, you can't post links and it takes forever for a review to be posted (It makes RR 48hrs seem really fast).

I found out the links rule when I posted a review; saw it was posted with a broken link, but after editing the review to fix the broken link my review was not reposted.

If you have a few questions do not put them in one email. Even a three sentence paragraph with more than one question is a hard thing for them to read through. I found this out the hard way. I had to break down and ask a one sentence question per email in order to get my questions answered. ugh

I don't feel very confident about PriceGrabber.com and I don't think I would use them to find out how a company rates with its customers.

If anyone else knows of other good review sites like RR, please let me know. I would like to add a review of MS to as many review sites as I can.
