NewelectronX (NEX)

This company sells cable boxes and other electronics on the web. They are in California; they do not list a telephone number.

While I do not consider NewelectronX to be a "scam" company, I would not recommend dealing with them nor will I even consider doing business with them again..

I gave them my cable provider and zip code, and bought a cable box based on their recommendation. The cable box did not work as represented (channels were not mapped correctly; the time signal was not downloaded so the program timers couldn't be used).

In a series of emails back and forth, they reminded me that, notwithstanding their recommendation, I had agreed that buying the item was my responsibility. They further notified me that if I challenged the 25% restocking charge with my credit card company, they would forward my information to "local authorities" in my area and I would lose more than 25% in the collection process. (Possibly, they have been down this road before).

If you are used to dealing with a user-friendly company like Amazon, dealing with NewelectroniX selfserving attitudes and policies will be quite a shock.

I give them an unsatisfactory rating on all counts and suggest they be avoided.

Welcome to RR.
This them?
Website;http://newelectronx.com/index.html
eBay;http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...:feedback:3:us
WhoIs info is a private registration, so no info there.
I also can not locate a BBB file on them.

Their rating here at RR is 0/10 with three reviews since 27APR2006, inc. yours.

Do you have the address? If so I can look for them and see what I find.
All I can find now is that they are in Norco, CA. 92860.

Looks like a eBay'er that decided to go into business and is not to familiar with laws regulating advertising.

You have the right company. No phone book or other listing. All shipping to and from is done by USPS (FedEx and UPS would want a street address).

In all fairness, I don't believe they have violated any regulations. And their response to email and questions is quick.

But, in my experience, their advice can be faulty; their knowledge of individual cable companies / local markets is limited; their disclosure is incomplete; and they do not take full responsiblity for what they sell.

Had they just told me to return the product for a refund, I would have eaten the round trip shipping (even though they charged $20 for priority mail; my return in the same box was only $8.00) and let the whole thing drop.

It is the 25% restocking fee that warrants the negative feedback.

Not much you can do about that as it is clearly stated in their terms; http://newelectronx.com/policy.php

There is a 25% restocking fee on all returned items once it has been packaged or shipped.

The first step would be to file a complaint with the BBB. This will take thirty days to complete and the BBB will work as a mediator in this process. This will also show that you attempted in good faith to resolve the issue if you have to move one to the next step. But, more info may be needed so see the next paragraph.

You should have a return address, hence a way to do a reverse-address look-up. this will give the name and phone number associated with that mailing address, if listed with the any number of phone company's. In simple terms it allows you to get the name and phone number for a given address.

However, this statement is not true IMO;
Quote:
Chargeback: Chargeback’s is considered theft. We will take action in the event of chargeback’s to the greatest extent. Past chargeback attempts have incurred higher pay outs to various authorities exceeding the cost of the initial item.
A chargeback is when you file a dispute for a charge with your CC company. If your CC company concurs that the purchase may be fraudulent, say for false advertising or a defective product, then the CC company will reimburse you and charge the merchant back, hence the term 'chargeback.' Per consumeraction.gov and the Fair Credit Billing Act;
Quote:
The law defines billing errors as: incorrect credits for payments, charges that you didn't make, and charges for goods or services that you did not receive or that were not as promised.
Since the box you where told would work did not, the box did not work as promised. Therefore, IMO you have every right to file a dispute. You should contact your CC company about this but I would give the BBB a shot first.

Your third step would be to file a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General- California, but that should be your last choice.

On a side note. I would never deal with this merchant as no contact info or physical location is apparent. IMO this company is hiding for some reason, therefore, I'd like that return mailing address for recording reasons. It may help in the future. You can PM or e-mail it to me, right click on my username for those options.
Thanks,
nomaxim

Just from reading his feedback the guy seems like a jerk. I wouldnt buy from him it seems he likes to belittle others in his neg. comments. I know this doesnt help you but maybe others reading this might look a little closer at his feedback and what he has left for others and save themselves the trouble of buying from him. May not be a full scam but he sells cable descramblers which are illegal everywhere i know of.

My experience with NewElectronX.com was just about as bad.

I ordered from them on 7/21. The item shipped on 7/22. All seemed to be going well. About a week passed and I decided to check up as the item I purchased was supposedly shipped from California to Washington State via UPS Ground (this normally takes 3-4 days). When I checked into the order status and tracking info, I found that the shipment had experienced an exception; basically the day it was picked up by UPS, the package was found to be tampered with and empty. UPS' tracking info went on to say that an investigation had been opened and that the sender would be contacted. Keep in mind that this is now 7/29 and I had received no notice from NewElectronX.

When I attempted to contact them I ran into the same thing that the above poster encountered: no phone number, no email address, no mailing address... Only an automated ticket system that will not allow you to post follow-up messages unless they have responded first.

My request was basically for an update:
"I ordered this over a week ago and haven’t received any updates. I just thought I would check the status today and noticed that the UPS tracking info specifies that the packaged was damaged and that a damage investigation is underway. Please give me an update ASAP."

20 hours later I received a reply stating that I should have checked my Spam folder for updates (which I did and found nothing) and that they were aware of the problem and were reshipping. I replied asking if they would send the replacement item with expedited shipping as the issue had been in limbo for a week now. They basically replied that it was UPS' fault and since they could not ship it any faster, they would issue me a full refund.

I have to admit that this is for the best, but these guys are severely lacking in the customer service department. I will not be using their services again and I hope that anybody who is thinking of doing so does a little research first. If they can't be bothered to deal with and take care of their customers, maybe they're in the wrong line of work.

Thanks!
Ben

Stay away from newelectronx

Just to warn anyone to is about to buy a GPS from newelectronx, This company has no value except for your money and deliver a defective product which will fix it " NOT EXCHANGE" afterward but after you pay for shipping both ways, and once you receive it you will find missing parts with the purpose of fixing it. Just try to complain " by the way there is no one to complain" and you will be accused of being rude. This company in my opinion is a one man "KID" show. Check their status with the BBB. My advice is to stay away from it because you might be paying less from the beginning, however; it will cost you more later on and you will not have the GPS that you paid for it at the end. STAY AWAY. I will post a full detail transaction to just proof what i said. Please post this to any web site that help someone avoid this company. By the way, there is no telephone number that you can talk to anyone, nor and address. I did find out his later. I made a mistake that I don't want anybody else to do.

Welcome to RR.

Per their Ebay feedback they have not concluded a transaction on eBay since 27MAY2009, over a year ago. Also, shows they are no longer a registered user at eBay.

Their rating here at RR is 1/10 with 5 reviews.

Their BBB Report gives them a F rating with 3 unanswered complaints in the last 3 years.
