I'm not sure why your info about the Jewish sabbath came to me. I think perhaps it was the other poster who made reference to business on Saturday.
I think it's great for a company of that size to keep the Sabbath. We had a hamburger joint in my home town that was closed on Fridays back when Catholics couldn't eat meat on Fridays (unless you were military-try explaining that to a 10 year old kid like me back then!)

Unbeatablesales.com distributes pirated software. I legitimately purchased Windows XP through the Amazon site and what they sent me is an OEM version that clearly states on the package "only to be sold with a new PC" and had no authentication certificate attached. When my son tried to install it on his Mac (albeit several months after we bought it due to him losing screen privileges) it would not work. We discovered, after MANY calls to Microsoft, that this particular disc would ONLY work with the PC it was intended to be sold with. I tried repeatedly to get Unbeatablesales.com to exchange my disc for one that I could actually install and they declined, albeit politely, to help me. So, now what do I do? Microsoft is referring me to the retailer, and the unethical retailer that distributes OEM software has kept my $120 and told me they will do nothing to assist me. HELP! Do I take them to small claims court to get restitution? I only want what I paid for. Any ideas or suggestions? Anyone??

Your first resolution with something like that should be to file a dispute with the credit card company. You should make sure you have copy of your receipt or invoice which states that you were getting a new retail version. By showing that you did not receive what you ordered, you have the proof you need to dispute the charge.
Generally, with software, if you open up the package your are accepting the user agreement for the software. If the package was evident that it was an OEM version and you opened it up, a court might deem that as the fact that you accepted ownership of the product according to its user agreement.

Unbeatablesale.com = Unbeatable THIEVES!!!
I ordered Muck boots through Amazon on December 18th, 2009. They were coming from UnbeatableSale, Inc. At 8:47 AM of the same date I received the order confirmation. This confirmation showed a shipping fee of $38.09 for boots costing $73.91, shipping from New York to Massachusetts. The confirmation also showed a delivery estimate of December 30,2009 - January 5, 2010, too late for a Christmas gift.
At 8:57 AM (ten minutes later) I sent an email to UnbeatableSale saying: "Please cancel order. Shipping is WAY too high!!!"
I called UnbeatableSale twice, and emailed them three times to confirm that the order was canceled. I got no response to the emails, and Jo Lin on the phone said she 'would try' to cancel the order. The boots arrived at my home on December 22nd, and I refused the delivery. UnbeatableSale, Inc., issued a refund to me of $55.43. They will NOT refund the $38.09 shipping and have charged me other fees (restocking?) that they have not itemized. They owe me $56.57. THIS BEHAVIOR BY UNBEATABLE SALE, INC. IS SIMPLE THIEVERY!!!

When you placed your order, did you not have to confirm what the shipping cost would be before the order was placed? What was the shipping listed as being at that point? I'm not sure I understand how you were surprised about the shipping cost.

unbeatableSale shipping cost
Merg, I ordered through Amazon.com. As far as I could see, there was no place to check the shipping cost. Even if I *did* miss that, this order was canceled ten minutes after the confirmation invoice was received by me through an email - the same morning I put in the order. I followed up with two phone calls to the vendor, and several emails, to which I received no response. I have ordered through Amazon many times in the past and have never encountered this sort of egregious behavior. $38.09 to ship plastic boots from New York to Massachusetts?? Come on!

Not disputing that what they did was right/wrong. I was just trying to figure out why you were so suprised with the shipping cost. On the order confirmation screen, the total cost of the order should have been displayed to include the shipping charges.
As for amounts you have not been reimbursed and are being charged, make sure to dispute the charge with your credit card company. Keep all of your e-mails with the company as your proof that you canceled the order and did not want it shipped.

Also, is it possible that you selected to have the boots shipped 2nd day or 3-day? It looks like you ordered on a Friday and they were delivered the following Tuesday. Taking away the weekend, it looks like they were delivered using some sort of express delivery.

Thanks for the helpful advice
Merg, I've been ordering stuff online for at least five years. Ive been racking my brain for something I missed here. I ordered the boots through Amazon, who have always been excellent for me. If I had seen the shipping charge I never would have ordered the boots. After this whole nightmare began, I went to the UnbeatableSale.com website. They have a policy that does not allow you to cancel an order pre-ship. I think this is a scam. At the website, they specify that you cannot cancel an order; if you refuse delivery they will charge a re-stocking fee, and the delivery charge, and a 'cancellation fee'. I think that the shipping fee is not disclosed until the buyer gets the order confirmation - as in my case. Once that happens, there is no recourse. Obviously, I would not have ordered the $73.91 boots if the shipping charge was $38.09. Once the buyer finds out the shipping charge they can't cancel the order, and if it is refused, all charges apply. They tell you to accept the order and apply for a return - I have no doubt whatsoever that the $38.09 shipping fee would still be taken from my account (bank debit card - wish I'd used my AmEx). This is why they never responded to any of my emails. I have kept all records, have filed an A to Z Guarantee claim with Amazon and will also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. These people are thieves - they must be desperate for money. Thanks for helping!
