BTW,I just recieved a call from some second party reseller promising that they will be shipping sometime in the near future.Tony,Dave,Susan,George and Bruce you are all frickin liars.I do not care about you or your history.Do not buy from this company,they are dishonest and will charge you for a product that they do not have in stock.You are cheats,thieves and liars.NEVER AGAIN!!!

I've shopped for a few years with Abe's, I've bought 4 lenses for my Nikon from them without issues and with fast shipping. I've bought Tamron lenses, Sigma lenses, lens kits, backpacks, memory cards...etc....and they are always PERFECT.

Abe's of Maine is hardly what you claim, I suspect that you either are seriously confused or just got fired from them?....maybe you are working for the competition and like to bad mouth a reputable business?

Unless you can document your claims in a clear concise manner without just blabbing that they are not a business, liars crooks and thieves, I'll keep you on the ignore list.

Abe's is in every Camera magazine on the planet and has consistently been a part of the camera scene for over a decade that I know of. The reason they have so many phone #'s is because they cater to a WORLD of photographers.

....seriously, Abe's is known worldwide and highly recognized.

*side note
When you are out today, grab any magazine that has to do with cameras and electronics and you'll most likely see Abe's ads, usually followed by B&H Photo competition ads.

I agree. Abe's ratings are much higher then Best Buy, Comp USA, and Circuit City. All these rate around a 2.

The two BBB reports is the only thing that grabs my interest. Note that they have been in operation since 1979, almost 30 years. But, I like to look into every complaint, just to see what I find.

PS. You have no evidence that this is a former employee, and this individual has also not left a review. I would also point out that you have delt with this company before and therefore may be biased towards them.

Yep it was serious, IMO that is way to many complaints... I would expect 4 or 5 and maybe up to 9 or 10, but not that many in a 4 month period.

At least they too the BBB online reliability button off. I was looking at them about a week or so ago and they had one up but their BBB profile says they are not enrolled in the online reliability program.

I don't trust Bizrate ratings very much, but Pricegrabber's are fine IMO.
The break down of the ratings here at RR show a increase in the overall stats over the last few months.

golfr gave no details as to the nature of the problem except that it seems to have something to do with a out of stock item they were charged for being shipped.

golfr's review has now posted, it seems to be a customer service/delivery/billing problem.

I would, however recommend caution when using this merchant. As Peter pointed out they had a BBB icon displayed on their website that they were not entitled too. Also the WhoIs info shows that the website does not have a valid SSL. (SSL encrypts the CC info.) Abe's Support page claims;

Abe's Of Maine has a Verisign certificate assuring that all information that is entered is encrypted and cannot be accessed by any outsider. All transactions are 100% secure.

Yet, I can not find a 'Versign' icon, the order process does goto a https secure server. Peter you can dig into that part if you wish, you're better at that kinda stuff then I am.
