Abes of Maine run away as fast as.....

I just posted my review of Abe's on this site, having made two purchases from them two weeks apart. I received what i ordered, at the advertised price, and they shipped and arrived on time.
The only additional selling they attempted was for a lens case and filter for the lens I ordered. Even my local camera shop tries to sell these related items.
I have not yet had a customer service issue with them so I cannot say how they handle problems or warranties (both items I received were US market items and were successfully registered as such with the companies who made them- Nikon and Sigma)

Oh, and the $10 coupon I got from them with my Nikon SC-29 was used on my second purchase of the Sigma 17-70mm lens without any problems.

So, i'll keep my fingers crossed, so far so good.

Run the other way FAST. The ultimate scam artists. I bought a Sony TV and was talked into the warranty. I was told that these are expensice to repair should they break down. They told me the warranty even included free cleanings. It was a three year warranty. Two years into my purchase the TV broke and I phoned the warranty company. I was given a nice little package after my purchase which I safely stored away. The two numbers were both disconnected. I looked up RepairTech on the internet and they went out of business long time ago. I phoned Abe's 3X and they reply is always equal to nothing. They pretty much don't care and said it's out of their hands. I'm still mad today and vow to never purchase a warranty EVER again. There's really nothing good to say about Abe's of Maine. I hope they go out of business one day because they don't care about you the customer AT ALL! Anything good said here seems phoney and was probably written by their own employees. I know numerous others that I met over the net that are experiencing the same warranty problems. Lots og good people out their hard earned money. Shame!

Thus far, my experience with Abe's of Maine has been good, and their Edison NJ Store is close enough by, that I can pay them a personal visit if I don't like what they've done with an order I placed with them.

I'm not sure what the exact detail of the other guy's problem was, but as I said, so far, so good. If you want two ETailers to avoid, they would be Ontime Digital, and Stop and Shop Digital. They advertise lowball prices, but then when you call in to confirm your order, the hard up sell starts. If you refuse their up sell, then the 'Customer Service' person abruptly terminates the call, and then amazingly, your item is now backordered. This was my experience with both of those places.

The two BBB reports is the only thing that grabs my interest. Note that they have been in operation since 1979, almost 30 years. But, I like to look into every complaint, just to see what I find.

PS. You have no evidence that this is a former employee, and this individual has also not left a review. I would also point out that you have delt with this company before and therefore may be biased towards them.

I bought a point and shoot digital camera from Abe's this month, and had no problems. They called me to "verify my address" and then tried to sell me an extra battery and a case, both of which I declined, and I got the camera two or three days later. The entire call only lasted about 7 minutes.

Sounds about normal for them, but overall, I'd still say they're good to deal with.
