Scammer Sites

I've been dealing with two sites, globalconsumerelectronics.com and
hotdiscountonline.com for three days trying to get information from
them about their ridiculously low-priced products. They simply would
not answer the emails I sent them.

I searched Google for information on them and discovered that
global has already been investigated here and it appears very likely
that the site is a scam.

Well, hotdiscount is a perfect clone of global except for the domain
names. When I confronted both sites with their failure to contact me
and questioned their motives behind their requiring me to give credit
card info before I even knew the amount of the freight and told them
I had heard that they were likely scammers they both quickly
blocked me from their sites.

They claim to have 4.5 million customers yet Google only finds 3 or
4 pages that mentioned their names.

I would like to help bust these rats, but I'm not experienced at this.
Anybody know how I should go about bringing about an official
investigation of these sites/owners/scammers?

Jon, good to have you hear at RR. You are indeed a very wise consumer. You did your due diligent and did not get burned. Both companies are receiving much bad "press" here at RR. Any firm that request CC information before giving shipping prices should not be dealt with.

Welcome to RR.
We have a thread here about hotdiscountonline.com (Anyone deal with hotdiscountonline.com?). We do not have anything on Globalconsumerelectronics.com. ( at least that I can find.)

At this time both sites seem to have already been shut down. (Confirmation??)

A WhoIs for globalconsumerelectronics.com shows;

Admin Email.......... globalconsumerelectronics @ yahoo.co (edited, remove spaces)

Per the Whitepages.com reverse address look-up;
Quote:
Peterson, Denise C
4306 Parkway Ave
McHenry, IL 60050-3746

(815) 385-1514
Then using Whitepages.com reverse phone number look-up shows;
Quote:
Etten, James R
5303 Abbey Dr
McHenry, IL 60050-5155
(815) 363-1125
The address's and phone numbers do not match up, someone likely just picked them out of the phone book. Good chance that any payments made to set up these websites were from stolen CC's to boot.
Denise and James are victims of ID theft and maybe law enforcement can dig out who the actual criminals are.

Thanks, nomaxim. I really feel lucky; I had at one time been real excited about purchasing a $700 50" plasma TV. I should have known better without checking any details at all, but an apparent $800 savings can temporarily cloud one's smarts .
