Beware of popup ads on MySpace for FREE Compaq laptop

Recently, I clicked on a popup ad on MySpace for a FREE Compaq Presario laptop if you choose two of their affiliate retailers' GOLD offers. I followed through on this, choosing a WalMart Discover card and also placed an order with Ink Blvd. The WalMart Discover card offer also stated that I would get $100 free gift card from WalMart.

I received my Discover card and also my ink. When I heard no further from anyone about my laptop, I called Discover. They said they had no affiliation with WalMart and were some other Discover card. They couldn't answer my question as to how they then got my information to send me a card. The customer service person also said they do not advertise on MySpace!

I e-mailed MySpace and got no response. I called WalMart Discover, and they said they didn't know anything about me and I didn't have an account with them. They ALSO said they don't advertise on MySpace!

This is one big SCAM it appears, and everyone involved refers me to everyone else involved, saying THEY aren't the ones I need to contact...contact 'the other guy!' BEWARE the popup ads on MySpace. Don't be scammed as I was!!!

Ya that stuff is usually impossible to claim whatever they are promising you... even when it is not that jacked up, they will say "Discover has to notify us that you have kept the card for 6 months" and then Discover says they don't know what they are talking about, they don't notify anyone about that kind of thing.

It is people getting affiliate links from, for example CJ.com, and promising all this stuff they wont deliver to get people to click and sign up. They still get their commissions on the sign up!

golfnutz1935,
Just a quick question.
Do you have any Anti-Spyware programs installed?
