JANDKCAMERA.com: NET VS. EBAY
Hi guys, I'm brand new to the forums here, but a veteran to online shopping and ebay. This site is a godsend and a wealth of information. Keep up the good work.
My question is regarding JandKcameras, aka Bestpricecameras.com, aka infinitiphoto.com. They have a terrible reputation on the seller review sites, but they have fantastic feedback on ebay. I am shopping for an expensive camera (Nikon D200) and I am not enough of a noob to know that if something is too good to be true, it probably is. Their prices are great and so is their feedback, but I smell a rat. How can they have such great feedback on ebay?
Any info or feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Happy new year to all.

Maybe people that shop eBay love gray market cameras that have no valid warranties?

That's a good point. Thanks for bringing it up. I was aware of that issue, but I forgot to include it in my post. Still, with all the feedback, one would think there would be plenty of people who are unhappy with their purchase.

I think most people that buy on eBay are retarded for bidding up and paying more than they can buy it at a legitimate online merchant for. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave good ratings. |

J&K Camera, Best Price and etc.
As a veteran internet shopper I hate to admit this but these guys took me in. I live in California and they are in Brooklyn so it is not economically feasible for me to pursue recompense. All I can say is don't deal with them, they ARE crooks. (This is only the second time I have been ripped off on the internet and BOTH times were New York City.I have a new rule, never buy from New York. I have purchased from Europe, Australia, Hong Kong, no problem).
I purchased a Nikon camera advertised "New, US market with full warranty". Then I was contacted by a sales person offering a number of upgrades and extended warranty. When I received the merchandise there were no upgrades and no extended warranty certificates. The invoice only priced a "Deluxe Camera Package", not the individual prices that I had written down. The price was about twice what I started with. When I went to register the camera body and lenses with Nikon they laughed at me, said it was "Gray Market" and no warranty, no one will repair it, even for a cash fee.
So you see, that really good price isn't. Hopefully you stay away from them. I wish I had.

Wagnes,
If you paid with a credit card, you could dispute the charge as you did not receive the product that you were told you would receive. Most times even after the CC company reverses the charge on your card, you are still left with the product or the company that sent you the product makes no effort to get it back. Just make sure you have all the documentation that says the product was a "USA Model with Full Warranty" and something from the camera company that says it's a grey market. I would also file a claim with the BBB about the deceptive practice. It might not do anything, but the more documentation you have, the better off you'll be.
Good luck!

One of the reasons that they have a better rep on ebay is that you may notice that the ebay prices are substantially higher then their web prices. So, they probably honor their ebay customers to avoid bad feedback. On ebay you can check feedback in an instant, on the web you have to know of site a like this. By the way, I had a very bad bait and switch experience along with a couple of ugly phone arguments with them, but I immediately called my credit card company and changed my card no. so they didn't "get" me.

As for there ebay feedback check the dates they recived feedback and the dates they left it for buyers. Alot of ebay sellers use what is called feedback blackmail. They will not leave feedback for the buyer until the buyer leaves feedback first. What this does is say i sell you a product and you get it and it is not the right one and i tell you too bad. You leave me a neg feedback then i turn around and slam you with a neg and some lude remark. Then i send you a link and say if you want my feedback removed to fill out the form at the link and it will be removed. You go fill it out and the neg. is removed but it is also removed from my feedback also. Most buyers know this about the ebay system and put up with it or dont use it.
Some ebay sellers are honest and those you can tell because they leave the feedback for the buyer reguardless of what feedback if any the buyer leaves so look at the dates on the feedback that will tell you alot.
I just checked and they dont leave feedback until after they get it so that right there tells you alot.
