Hi,
I came across this company through www.thetradingforums.com

They claim to have the PS3 and Wii available at prices which aren't too bad. Their website is www.ara-uk.com

Can anyone tell me if they are legit????

Thanks, it seems they own the "Trading Forums" as well - WhoIs says the forums are registered to ARA-UK.com Ltd.

The units they have are the Japanese version!

From what I have gathered:

It won't play any old PS3 games and it will only connect to Japanese servers. It won't play anything but Japanese Region DVDs, but it will play all Blu-Ray disks.

The warranty is most likely void if you are not in Japan. Also remember, for the warranty to be valid, you have to have the receipt from an authorized retailer. So anyone that has a batch that they bought off a back of a truck is not a authorized retailer.

He is a geniune seller! He has no stock he is just brokering them, he has the same supplier as myself and another seller on thewholesaleforum.co.uk... The warranty is valid you just need to register it with sony....

Those are clearly labeled as the Japanese versions. Anyone know if you can change the regional settings of the PS3 like you can PC drives. Usually you can set it 5 times and the 5 time sis permenate.

No point in a Japanese version for the US, the US versions are easy to come by now.

The US version manual says the receipt must be from an authorized retailer, so if you have a receipt from someone that is not authorized the warranty is void. Also, there is no registration for the US version, you just need the receipt.

So I would suggest if you are going to buy a Japanese version outside of Japan, you better call Sony and get it in writing that the warranty is good instead of believing an anonymous poster on a forum.
