For example, when you go to the corner store to buy a stick of gum, if the transaction went well and you placed the 50 cents on the counter took your gum and walked out. Do you think you will be stopping people on their way in telling them how fantastic a merchant this is. NO. You got what you expected and it ends there. So, keep in mind that happy customers get tehir products and move on with their lives, mostly they do not write reviews. On the other hand, if the clerk at the store snared at you and said something uncalled for you might consider thelling the people walking in that this person is a little nuts. And so, it should be understood that once an item is recieved they consider the transaction complete. They dont feel they have to go write a review. The few that are extremely unhappy do want to vent and thats what review pages are for.
You've GOT to be kidding?! What you say is true in the general sense, but do you realize how many people found this site after deaing with these people and (many) having their money taken and being sent an inferior product? Do you think they wanted to be put in a position to warn others about their experience versus getting what they ordered as it was advertised?! Do you see how old this particular thread is and how many people have contributed it to?! Is that just a coincidence or evidence of a bunch of complainers in your mind??? I doubt that anyone who's dealt with these companies is gullible enough to digest what you're feeding...

Stay away from Brooklyn Shops

I know you all are talking about Brooklyn shops and your reviews are about them, but I thought of sharing a lesson well learned due to bad experiences with Brooklyn Shops.

After a few bad experiences I have stayed away from Brooklyn shops. I suggest that people should look for shops in low business states because they get better deals from Camera manufacturers and Dealers.

I buy a lot from 2020cameras.com. They are based in Michigan and I have received my orders from them with no worries.

They are smaller than a lot of the Brooklyn people but thats maybe what lets them provide better customer service.

DO NOT USE PHOTO CONNECTION (NOVEMBER 2008)

These guys are deceiving crooks.

I ordered a Canon G10 on November 2nd for $419 on their website. The following day I called to ensure it would be sent. The guy talked so loud and cut me off so many times trying to sell me an extra battery and when I finally got through to him that I absolutely did not want an extra battery, then he started in on flashes and other stuff.

At the end of the conversation I asked him again if the camera would ship because I wanted to take it on a trip with me this week. He said yes it will ship today.

Now its November 13 and I just called their customer service number to check on the shipment: 1-800-457-0889. I was told it has not shipped and they do not have it in stock.

They are liars and deceivers. Its not worth trying to saving a buck if you have to deal with guys like these.

I highly recommend you think twice before considering dealing with them.

Agreed

These people have no right to go about business anymore. They are full of ****. Just recently I wanted to order a Nikon D80. I looked around for the best deals and found these people. Stupid me, I didn't look on these forums before hand even though I felt they were sketchy.

Anyway, so I find a nice deal package and decide to place an order. My receipt came to about $800 and I received a call the next day from "Sam." He sounded like your typical fraudulent used car salesman, but I disregarded and continued to speak to him. He then stated "It says in your order that you did not choose a battery, did you want a five hour or two hour?" That got me, I knew the package came with a battery, he can't bullshit me, I know too much about these things. But I just went along, said give me the battery in the package and finished the call. I then looked and my bill was close to $1000. I wasn't happy.

The next day, I read these reviews on here and have a hunch I should cancel. Along with that, they were pissing me off giving me a hard time about the shipping address being different than the billing. I got on the phone with the guy again and told him to cancel the order in which he talked over me and told me of the "great deal!" He then said I'd be charged a fee for cancellation and hung up. My mom then calls up and chews him out so he apparently waived the fee. Thank god.

Well, hopefully I got out early enough and they won't charge my card anyway. I swear, they seemed fishy. My advice to everyone is do your dealer research, especially on pricey slr's and other electronics.

warning: fotoconnection.com

Simple way to f**k the F**kers. Ship 'em back a brick. After all, with all the fraud, who will believe them? Good luck.

I know how you feel. A year ago they stole $150 from me. Even the NY AG office couldn't help me. I think the mob is still around.

reply to A2kSux

A2kSux, I think your comment is not 100% wrong, but a little short-sighted. If you notice, people here aren't complaining about 50 different things, there is a definite theme when shopping with this merchant, and unfortunately for most of us, we don't realize their "game" until after we've been burned (much like most people at a car dealer for the first time).

I consider myself a fairly astute individual, yet these guys added an HDMI cable to my order ($100 charge, for a $30 cable), even though I sent them an email and a detailed excel spreadsheet showing all the charges and highlighting that I DID NOT want the HDMI cable. I fought it with my credit card company, but ended up traveling a lot shortly after starting the dispute and eventually it just got stale and thus they kept the money and I was effectly sold. I found it very painstaking that even after having emails, and a spreadsheet that was documented my CC company took their simple response of "..yes he ordered the item", to be sufficient to come back and ask me to respond to that. anyhow, lesson learned, I'll never buy from these creeps again (and yes they truly are EXTREMELY rude, but for most of us we want to save a buck).

I'd love nothing more than to see these guys go out of business!

As I stated many post ago the two best sites for 100% satisfaction and honesty are:
OneCall.com - HDTV, Home Theater, Camera for electronics/cameras
CameraWorld.com - Free Shipping & No Sales Tax on DIGITAL CAMERAS $100+ for cameras and accys.

I've purchased from both many times and they might not be the absolute cheapest but you'll get your order on time, no upsell and safe and sound.
Just when the plasma HDTV's were new and expensive back in 2002 I ordered a Sony Vega XBR 42" plasma from OneCall and got it for $5900 delivered to my home in Texas. The local Fry's wanted $7500 + tax! It came strapped to a pallet, safe and sound and it still looks great today!

Please people, do your research before you buy from those NYC rip-off con men!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Texas!

My Experience...

I searched online for a good deal on a Canon Powershot S5. I found one at ontimedigital for $199. An amazing deal...so amazing I should have known better. I am about to go out of the country so I needed the camera fast. I placed my order on Friday and called them on Monday to verify that I would get it quickly. I paid for 2nd day air. They tried to upsell me and were incredibly rude. I sent a note to their customer service. On Tuesday, I still had no confirmation from them so I called back. After holding for 13 minutes, I was told my order was canceled. They said they didn't have the camera. I was furious. They didn't try to contact me to tell me that and the guy I talked to the day before certainly didn't mention that. So, I was back on the hunt for the camera. I found it at fotoconnection. It was a bit more but still cheaper than normal. I placed my order on Tuesday. The confirmation email told me to call them if it was a rush order. I was asking for it to be sent next day air because my timeline was shrinking. They would not let me have it sent to my office because that is not the billing address of my debit card. It was frustrating but understandable...I guess. A bit later I was on the web and found this site. I started to freak out thinking that I wouldn't get the camera or it would be substituted for a different model, etc. I called them back to verify the camera was in stock, that I would get the exact camera I ordered and that it would be sent next day air. Edmond assured me that it was and I would. At 10:00 on Tuesday night (the day I ordered the camera), I got an email saying it was shipped and on Wednesday it was delivered exactly as they stated. The only problem that I have is that the camera is supposed to have an SD card with it and it wasn't in the box. I'm not too concerned because I had already gotten some high quality cards and the one that is supposed to be included is just a small one. I've emailed to have them ship it to me so I guess I will see how they handle it but I have to say up to this point...it's been a pleasant experience. Perhaps they are getting better...
