CAUTION: rainbowtronics.com - gray market merchandise

CAUTION: I recently bought a Nikon from rainbowtronics.com which is identified by NikonUSA as gray market merchandise after trying to register using the serial number. Rainbowtronics.com refused to acknowledge that they sold me a gray market item. When I asked them why there's no warranty card in content, they said no need for warranty card, just send Nikon a copy of invoice, which is not true since NikonUSA is refusing to register my Nikon because of the gray market serial number. Then upon my persistent questioning, cust support put me on hold and then hung up on me. I attempted 2 more times to contact them and both times they hung up on me when I challenged them that they sold gray market merchandise.

Private registration so there is no way to find who owns the site.
Only just been in business a year.
They link to many rating sites on their website.
The rating here at RR is around 8.5
The Shopzilla.com site shows an increasing number of negative feedbacks over the last three months, 21% negative (over three months) to 39% negative (the last week).
The Pricegrabber.com
site shows a 4.31/5.00 rating, however states;
Quote:
(Product listings for this Merchant have been removed by PriceGrabber)
(This merchant's products are not listed on PriceGrabber.com, however maybe listed on PriceGrabber's affiliate sites.)
Also, Bizrate.com is showing the same growing number of negative feedbacks as Shopztlla.
And the BBB reports that;
Quote:
This business recently came to our attention. We are attempting to gather information on the business. Please check back in four to six weeks.

Report as of: 11/5/2006
I would suggest filing a complaint with the BBB here.
Give them a few weeks to respond back to you. (4-6 as stated above)
If at that time you are still not satisfied then follow up with a complaint to the
NY State Attorney General or the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)
Not sure how grey market items are covered under the law, but it cannot hurt.
