Newegg RMA Nightmare! DON'T EVER BUY FROM THEM!

Fist let me say that newegg wasnt all bad for me and i had prior to this newegg nightmare purchased well over a thousand dollars worth of stuff from newegg in the year i delt with them. Newegg has great selection and great prices. usualy the product came ontime and the goods were excellent.

it all started in say july or so when i ordered an openbox item from newegg.com not only did it come several days late but they had sent me an email disclaiming the waranty they offered for theese openbox items on their website.

When i called them they had a rude customer service rep that would not ansawer my one spefic question will newegg.com honor my 15 day refund waranty on the openbox product i purchased from them.

She went on to interupt me i would say maybe 5 times incresing getting louder each time that newegg.com offers a 15 day waranty on refurbished products. i said i want to talk to the manager she says i am the manager and i tell her i dont know how you got to be a customer service manager at newegg when your so rude to people. She then hung up on me.

when this openbox saphire radeon x850xt did arrive i put it in my computer and when i turned on my pc it immediatley turned itself off and i had to reset the power supply. i did this twice and then gave up on the defective part. and went back to my old agp card. (my asrock dual had agp and pcie)

I called them and told them what was up and about the rudness i encountered and i was assured that it was a misunderstanding due to faulty headsets and they offered me money back on my next purchace and rma'd my first one so . I was to to get this item overnight and with a discounted rate. This made me happy and also made me feel like i was a valued customer once again.

Newegg has previously got out of the cash back on next purchase agreement we had made by telluing me "oh you have to call me and tell me you want to use this cash back on you next purchase or you wont be credited those discounts" A quote from Tom T. (newegg.com's boss of bosses for their customer service department) .

So i called newegg and told the rep i made the agreement that i wished to use this discount and went on to make my purchase. I then purchased another radeon x850xt but this time it was a brand new retail box,THEY CHARGED ME THE FULL AMOUNT AND IT TOOK 5 DAYS TO GET HERE. (the did pay for the overnight that took 5 days though)

I called them to complain they asked what the issue was. I told them the problem and asked to speak to the person who had made this agreement would not take my calls and i was told she was in a meeting. The next day they fed me the same line. The third day the person who had made me this promise actually lived up to it by telling me sorry for charging me the full amount and my credit card was credited the difference, i was pleased with this.

When this x850 showed up it would let my box power and not kick off the power supply like the direct short on the last card but it just wouldnt Power on self test, so i sat it on the shelf next to the other one and called newegg.com.

I called newegg.com and told them the deal and that i belive my motherboard to be bunk because of this defective openbox product. (refurbished items are tested and repaired when needed and openbox product sare just shipped to a new customer after it is returned for whatever reason to the manufacturer) I said i wanted to rma the motherboard and the two defective cards and they agreed to do so and gave me 2 rma numbers and very specific instructions on how to package and ship theese items.

I got a full refund on my motherboard witch is great and i got a refund on the retail x850xt but the openbox item I paid 125 bucks for disapears. they sent me a itemized list of the merchandise they received for each rma number and they only counted one x850xt.

I have called and talked with them about it and they told me that they paid me for both of those x850xt's and that he was looking at the invoice for it as we spoke. . i called the rep a liar and showed him my rma numbers and my invoice. He told me that newegg being the great company they are would be willing to pay me for the item that they never recieved juast to make me happy.

I said wait so you are calling me a liar? then i tell him with service like that even if he does give me the money back for it i shouldnt have to call and be lied to and be called a liar all to get what is already mine and i still will be posting negative reviews about newegg.com. He told me well if you gonna post a negative review still sir then i wont be willing to pay you for that item that we newegg never recieved.

I told him look if you guys dont pay me for this i am going to sue you guys. and not for just the 125 bucks but for the mental anguish of being pissed off for a week or so after every time i have to deal with them.The Rep went on to say in not so simple terms go ahead and try to sue me or newegg.com, Right then and there i realised they have high powered lawyers to swat lil guys like us down on retainer.

So here i am trying to get back at them the only way i see how. Telling people how lousy i have been treated and how horrible their rma and cutomer sevice has been for me. Ive had issuses with 3 of their staff two for false promises and lies and one for yelling at me. Newegg employs some 1200 employees world wide so i am hoping that theese incidents are isolated
to theese individuals and dont indicate how newegg.com values its customers as whole.

I have dealt with newegg for years and even had a few problems with them. They always took care of it and were ALWAYS polite EVERYTIME. If you had a problem please use the following contact# to try to get help.

Just from my dealings with newegg i find some of what you say very hard to beleive and i am sure others that shop there will tell you the same. You dont get high ratings by doing as you say they did. So there is the information and good luck but i dont think you will get to far if you throw that attitude at them like you did at this forum. I know things get emotional and the net is a crazy place at times, But rudeness never goes far even here. As i say good luck.

I sat and thought about what flipper had to say and i think maybe he is right.
until recent newegg has righted their wrongs with me so long as i was polite
and the day i got rude with them it was like i hit a brick wall in terms of their customer service righting these wrongs.

I considered the situation and now i do sypathize for their customer service representatives for having to deal with me in the manner they did because although i am good natured i must admit im a raving lunatic if you get me pissed off.

I have a horrible temper and i am strong in my convictions so yea the minute newegg became the badguys to me i did disreguard certain edicuit that i shouldnt have.

when newegg screws up thats just what it is... a screw up i realize now after i called them being rude it became a personal matter to their customer service representatives.

What the real problem here is human nature, and to be ever more to the point "pride". Thats when bussiness goes bad and people think with their feelings and not with their heads. After dealing with newegg.com for about 8 or 9 months and having them demonstrate that yes their are top notch to having them screw up i took it personal and stepped out of my normal logical self and got rude and even cursed at a few of them.

I feel bad about it now, and for that to all of whom i disrespected at newegg i am truly sorry . I see now i should have been more professional about the situation. Because of neweggs selling me that first openbox x850xt that was bunk and ruining my motherboard it made the second one look like it didnt work when it probably did and theese circum stances made newegg looks like bad guys to me, and for me their is no grey area i treat bad guys like bad guys.

I think now the circumstances led me to believe good people were bad people and that they were purposeley ripping me off when they werent.
But does my Recent Bad luck in dealing with them to the point were i literaly lose it fly off the handle and become a jerk give them the right to stop being honest and righting there wrongs when they make them?

And even if they give me my money back it wont ever equate the pain ive went through for this situation and theese circumstances making me the badguy. Ive always been the goodguy and have always made a stand for what is right and defended the ideals that make our country so beuatyfull. Like when i was in school i woul make problems for myself by beating up the bullys i seen that would pick on the weak that couldnt defend them self, when i seen the principle i would tell him yea i did it why i did it.

Me and that guy liked eachother cause he knew we were on the same team but now in this situation ive become what i hate. Ive become the bully i see it now although i couldnt see it then but i see it now. It wasnt my intention to bully anyone that just isnt me.

The real lesson to all here is never buy a freaking open box item because theese product's were sent back for a reason and it is possbile that if you stick one of them in your box it could make it go up in smoke !!!! and it just aint worth it to risk it. My advice to newegg is that unless the manufacturer is welling to refurbish and test theese openbox products to some degree to not even sell those products because it isnt worth their reputation. And it isnt worth making good people look or feel like bad people.

So now i say ok newegg you win keep my money i give up, you made me the bad guy. It's not the first time my foolish pride has done that to me, and now human nature and pride forces your reps to basicly tell me to get screwed .

And to you guys at newegg understand im not the badguy and i never was or will be. Im not gonna sue nobody and im not gonna haul off and smack nobody either. If i was rude to you or you ever felt threatened by my agressive rude demeanor I am so very and truly sorry and When im angry i think with my Heart and not my head i didnt mean to bully anyone. I was just trying to stand up for myself.

Honestly PLEASE call jason. I am pretty much the same at times when i get mad. I got ripped a few times from online vendors and my thought was i needed to drive there and meet the jerks face to face and see if they talk to me or treat me the same way then. I have dealt with jason and he handled it so well i am convinced if you call him that you will come back here and post how you finally got thru to the one person that would help you. Just be polite in dealing with him. When i finally reached the end of my rope he sent me an email and i called him we ended up talking for an hour or better. Very few people i have met can calm me that fast or for that matter turn it around and make me as close to a friend as he did. As for standing up for yourself i agree if you dont do it no one else will is a long standing saying well i think jason looked out for me in the end otherwise i wouldnt praise him like i have. PLease call him i am SURE he will handle it in a manner that you will like.

Also i really like your second post it makes even me want to help you. If you decide not to call jason i am still personally going to call him myself on monday and make sure he reads this post. You shouldnt lose money over it as you were within the time frame for open box items. Also i never and i mean never buy open box and only oem on hard drives they still come with a good warranty if oem. I always thought of an open box a little different though. I thought it was an item that someone ordered by mistake, not compatiable and so on so sent back to new egg. I am glad i read your post. I wish you the best of luck and wil pray for you in this matter and also will call jason on monday and direct him to your post but i think it best if you call him.
I admire you in a way taking up for the little people in school i think you are a good guy and honest please call him.

Walmart GLADLY gives me a refund no questions asked no matter what.

Thank you flipper for you consideration and thoughtfullness but i am beyond my wits end in dealing with newegg. From now on i guess i will do like Tom Ta from newegg told me. "If you not willing to take the risks involved with buying online then buy from walmart". Im not willing to take the risk of having them tell me sure buddy we will rma that for you then when they get the merchandise to tell me they never recieved it.

One time i got a webcam that was very cheap and had red and green fuzz all through the picture from a relative for my birthday. This was purchased
from walmart. my aunt had throw the receipt away but when she say hor horrible it was she insisted i return it. it sounded like a real headache to me over 30 bucks so i didnt want to be she basicly told me i had to...lol

She insisted on driving me there immidiatley to see me do so.
I walked up to their customer service rep and said hi i would like to get a refund for this. The guy looked in the box and seen there was a cam in there and didnt even check the serial numbers, or for the driver disk or check to make sure there was full packaging. I like that, no i love that.

So yea up with WALMART even if they dont pay very well. I'll gladly pay a little more to know that i wont get ripped off, and that i have any problem whatsoever my money is safe with them. Plus hey, they are so nice to me there.

And besides walmart wont ever give me a reason to get angry and throw a tantrum like some jerk. That in itself is worth paying a little extra because thats not who i am and i dont like being that way, or feeling pissed off.

So what if newegg has more selection or a little better prices. When they take 125 bucks from you and you have to pay shipping to to get a product.
3 graphics cards in this ordeal and two motherboards.


Shipping to get 3 video cards here was 5.99 x 3 so thats 18 bucks the two motherboards shipped to me was like 7 bucks each so 7x 2 = 14 then returning one defective motherboard and 2 defective cards was about 15 bucks with the insurance from fedex here in town. plus they didnt pay me for one of those rmas 125 dollar rms . i think newegg offered to pay for part of the shipping but i doubt they did ever did i am not really sure on that.

So here it is. 18 + 14 + 15 + 125 = 172 + the nightmare i have had and all the damn waiting = priceless.

Newegg has made it clear to me that their money is worth more than making sure i am a happy customer and that they wont take a loss to make me happy and that i will be taking the loss.

How STUPID ARE YOU NEWEGG? its my birsthday this month and i was gonna have all my friends and relatives get me stuff from there and i am older now and my friends and family would rather let me choose what i want then to buy me something i dont need or want. but now what willi tell all my friends and family? DONT BUY FROM NEWEGG !!!!! ITS NOT WORTH IT !!!!

I will now tell all my friends and all my family and everyone i know at all the forums that i goto to help weither it be techspot anandtech techpowerup xtrememe systems windowsfordevices ect ect to never buy from there.

Because a hassle is one thing and it happens at times. but what i have went through is uttlerley ridiculous. and after endorsing newegg to everyone i know
i dont want to feel responsible when newegg pulls some christmas grinch type stuff and lil tommy or someone never gets a christmas cause daddy got ripped off by newegg.com.

Also hdtv is getting popular and i couldnt say how mad i would be if newegg screwed me on a 5,000 dollar hdtv. Are you willing to spend your big load this season with a company that lies and steals? Tom Ta neweggs Boss of bosses for their customer service departmant told me he was looking at the summary of items received when we spoke and they got both of the x850's i sent and that he had the invoices for both showing i was paid in full.

There is no gray area here tom ta lied to me. see for yourself, i will copy and paste it here and if anyone would like further proof i can foward them the actual invoices from my email.

Either way with a liar at the helm of costomer service (or diservice) i shall never ever deal with them again. And even though tom is a liar that never made it right for me to act out. i should never let the anothers actions affect the way i conduct myself, but its easier said then done.

Now on the other hand if they fired Tom Ta the liar and gave nicole vasquez the job I would go back to them in a second. Nicole is so great , not only at her job. But shes so friendly and helpfull you can tell she really cares about people and about her job.

Snow was rude jamie makes mistakes but she is nice enough Tom Ta is a liar (all newegg customer service managers.) Nicole Vasquez was the only person who was really nice to me and help me out with no problems others have been nice then lied like tom. Or tried to help and screwed up like jamie.

I do understand mistakes happen and just let me say, jamie is a pleasure to deal with. On the other hand nicole vasquez was willing to help me out and we mainly talked about hour familys ect. until she was done doing what she was doing she told me what she had done for me i not only felt like she had made it right but she had me thinking man i hope they screw up again and give me full refund plus money off my next purchase.

Well that was the way nicole represents newegg. thats a newegg i trust.

I say to newegg. nicole is top notch give her the job. or if not then this jason guy that others in forums speak highly about.

Rock on jason and nicole and WALMART !!!!!!

Another thing about open box items.

I have seen people on forums attemmpt things that were beyond their ability and then they got refunds by playing stupid and being like i dont know whats going on but the agp card wont fit into theese white slots. what do i do?

A brown Slot whats that for? what? accelleratedgraphicsport? wow thats a long word !!!!

I suppose im at the other end of the spectrum with NewEgg I buy lots of open box motherboards and some video cards and rarely have an issue. About 2 out of 12 are a issue i just toss one in the trash on average and only return if it was blatently bad. But then again I never buy transitional gear (like your asrock mobo), oem or crappy brands (ECS comes to mind). Im also pretty particular about what chipsets and stuff are used.

ECS isn't a crappy brand and also OEM is good. OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer.
