Stay away from EmigrantDirect.com if you can

I had very bad experience with EmigrantDirect.com. First of all, they have under-educated staff and provided me with wrong info. I was told that external money market account can be linked to their saving account. Then they entered the same info twice into their system which resulted in totally 8 transactions(4 withdraws+4 deposits) during their verification process. Two days later, another 4 transactions happened again even though I called Emigrant a couple of times to have it stopped. But, their system is so screwed up and even the cancelled external money market account keeps showing up again and again during two-week period. I have ended up with $30 fees charged by the other bank due to EmigrantDirect stupid system. So far, I have spoke to 6 representatives including a manager and almost everybody said that she/he would take care of it, and at the end, everybody refused to return my email inquiry. Over 3 weeks passed, still no credit shows up on my account, and anybody(representative at Emigrant) who promise to followup keeps quiet. I never have such terrible exeperience with a bank.

I am surprised anyone there told you a money market account could be linked to a savings account. According to the EmigrantDirect FAQ, only personal checking accounts are permitted (you can have up to 4 linked personal checking accounts, provided the name on the account/s is the same as your EmigrantDirect account). Is the money market reference also online? If so, do you have a link? (I'd like to see it)

The best way to resolve the matter to your eventual satisfaction is keep a detailed, dated record of your conversations, including first/last names and numbers/extensions of the persons with whom you speak. Staying even-tempered, respectful yet firm and unyielding in persistence, and escalating your complaint, will usually get a matter resolved. Try getting ahold of different managers/supervisors, also - where one will give you a hard time or act clueless, another will help you and get you results.

sometimes, you are just too lazy. Instead of reading their FAQ, I just picked up phone and called them. The frustration is that everyone(reps) I was talking to at first seems eager to resolve the problem. But, after a while, they would not response to me regardless I left callback phone# and email address. The service is horrible and how can I feel safe to put my money in their bank? Lesson learned and will never do business again with them.

Thanks for the head up Wen. I have been thinking about opening an account with them, because of the excellent payout.

However, I came not tolerate bad service, so as result of your thread I will go else where.

I opened a savings account with Emigrant. No problems whatsoever. It's linked to my checking account.

Emigrant does not offer best payout, check following link:

I know that most of people use Emigrant may not encounter any problem, but trust me if there is problem, they sucks.
