Frigidaire Appliances-Be very cautious

It seems Electrolux has gotten out of the customer service business. Add to that an appliance dealer who is less than truthful and buying a Frigidaire appliance might not be a good choice. I bought a new range knowing it had two small dents, only cosmetic and the salesman assured me that this happens when moving appliances about. The stove was delivered, but the installer could not get the burners to adjust correctly. The speed bake can not be used either. In wiping the stove off with a mild dishwasher detergent, my dishcloth kept coming up black. ?? this puzzled me so I got out the trouble light as the stove is black and hard to see. It was very apparent that the paint is coming off. My calls to the store have been very unhelpful and they insist that Frigidaire will not stand behind this as the store purchased the item as damaged goods. Funny they didn't mention that at the time of the sale. I called Frigidaire and they insist that they do not sell damaged goods but since the problem is "only cosmetic-their opinion) I should just buy some touch up paint. Loss of paint on the top means premature rust out.! I will have to take a loss on the stove but I will never buy another Frigidaire appliance again.

In the for what its worth catagory, the following came from Consumer Repsorts:

The graph below shows the percentage of electric ranges bought new between 2000 and 2005 that were ever repaired or had a serious problem that was not repaired. Differences between brands of less than 3 points are not meaningful. Among electric ranges, Hotpoint, General Electric, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, and Kenmore were most reliable.

Remember that models within a brand may vary, and changes in design and manufacture may affect reliability. Still, choosing a brand with a good repair history improves your odds of getting a reliable range.

Best to Worst:
Hotpoint 4
GE 4
Frigidaire 7
Whirlpool 7
Kenmore (Sears) 7
Maytag 11
Amana 12
Jenn-Air 14
KitchenAid 16
