Funny about Tiger Direct

We all like to beat up on Tiger Direct, but whats wierd is, as long as there are no rebates involved, they do a decent job as a regular mail order firm.

They beat me several years ago for around $500 in rebates. Still have never seen the money.

But..... and a big but. They seem to be offering less rebates, and seem to be actually competing on price more. I actually ordered a couple of things from them in the past few weeks and lo and behold, it showed up fast, perfect, and with great prices. I held my nose when I ordered from them, figuring if they beat me, I'd stop payment on the credit card.

But I was stunned. Fantastic prices, reasonable shipping, and super fast delivery. I even called when they shorted me on an A64 4000 as a backorder, and the guy that answered was decent, told me what seemed to be the truth, and then the thing showed up 3 days later.

All these mail order houses suck in one way or another (newegg included! ) Guess we all have to pick our poison.

Tiger Direct is consistently bad. I would rather pay a few bucks more then order from some risky business.

6/21/10: Hate to necro an old thread, but I reverse the above statement. The last two things I ordered from TD came through with no problems. Shops can and do change. The last thing I ordered from Newegg got lost in the mail. That's left a bad taste in my mouth, even though it was USPS' fault.

ANYTHING I can buy from TD, I can and do elsewhere. They scammed me one time on rebates, and once was all the opportunity I was willing to give them. There are plenty of other places that would like to cheat me, and TD has already had their opportunity, sooooooooooo...... NEVER again from TD.

And, yes, I LOVE to pick on TD, they are such an easy and deserving target.

I dont know if they are run totally different up here in Canada but TD.ca seems to have better prices then anywhere else and mine and my friends experience with them was good. Admittedly though TD doesnt have a lot of competition up here though. No etronics newegg etc.
