Am I flying off the handle?

I order some items from ZZF. I received a e-mail with my tracking number and I verified that it was shipped via my account. The items were suppose to arrive today and they haven't. So I called them and they stated they are sorry but the items I ordered are on back order and they don't know when they will receive a shipment.

I say look out! EVERY time I have had some one send me a tracking number that was bogus has ripped me off. I have never had a legit company send a bogus tracking number. I hope you used a credit card and not PayPal from your bank or a debit card.

try to get your money back now. Do not wait.

Granted, I haven't used http://www.zipzoomfly.com (ex-Googlegear) for 4 or 5 years, but last I checked they we're still a pretty good company. http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1991.html Looks like they've dropped from a 8.6 to a 6.6 in the last six months.

Have you been charged yet? Do the items show as out of stock on the website?
If the item is out of stock then it could just be a error. Instead of sending a notice that it was out of stock, they sent you a tracking number. I'd give them a few days.

I've not had this problem with ZZF myself, but I've always taken the tracking number they've provided and checked that number directly with the shipping carrier (i.e. Fedex).

Fedex, UPS, pretty much all of them have a tracking status on their homepages so that you can see the shipping details. This way you can see if the package was actually handed off to the shipping carrier or not. Once you see it on Fedex's website, it's not likely to be fake unless it's an empty box.
