NEVER buy from shopsunshine.com

I recently made a discovery that shopsunshine.com has the worst customer service in history. When I say bad, I mean that they actually argued with me and interrupted me on multiple occasions when I attempted to call them to ask about my order. Unfortunately, since they cancelled my order on me (and then called me a liar), resellerratings won't let me post a review.

So here is my review for your viewing pleasure:

WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH AN ONLINE BUSINESS!

I purchased an in-window air conditioner from Shopsunshine.com because it
was the lowest price listed at shopping.com and because of a decent rating
here at resellerratings.com. I went through the full account creation
process, entered all of my information, and submitted my order, but received
no order confirmation in my email.

When I called these guys 4 days later, I was able to obtain the following
information:

1. The bargain $9.99 shipping suddenly went up to $119.
2. They "lost" my order but have never experienced this issue in the past.
3. Despite the fact that I now have an active account with them, and the
fact that accounts can not be created unless an order is made, they accused
me of lying to them, stating that I must not have actually placed an order.

4. Nobody at their company has the ability to look up the account I created
at their web site.

I managed to get two people on the phone to acknowldege that shipping was
$9.99 last week, but they outright refused to budge on their $119 shipping
for a $250 product. When I told them that I can obtain the product for $260
elsewhere and that I wanted to purchase from them due to their decent
resellerrating, they began fighting with me, ultimately hanging up on me and
telling me that they will not alter the shipping cost.

That is NOT good customer service and it ultimately caused them to lose
about $4000 in business. I would have been purchasing a new television from
this site in the next couple of weeks due to the decent pricing. There is no
way in hell I'm going to be ordering a big ticket item from a company with
such horrid customer service.

EDIT: FOR THE PERSON THAT RESPONDS TO THESE REVIEWS, PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME
AND EVERYONE ELSE HOW I CAN HAVE A VALID ACCOUNT (THAT I CAN LOG IN WITH) AT
YOUR WEB SITE, YET HAVE NEVER PLACED AN ORDER.

YOU RECEIVED MY ORDER, NOTICED THAT YOU HAD ACCIDENTALLY ONLY CHARGED $9.99
FOR SHIPPING, CANCELLED IT, AND PROCEEDED TO CALL ME A LIAR.

Also, FYI, I have the exact model air conditioner ordered from a different
site, also located in New York. They charged me $35 for shipping, making the
total $260. Your scam and lies have caused you to lose a $260 order as well
as a $4000 order.

We are a good Company. This reviewer is not being honest

My name is Simon I am the manager at Shopsunshine I have been here since our opening day in April of 1995.

I would like to respond & address to the unfair portrayal of our company by this reviewer. Although I do feel most reviewers are fair minded there are those that our not. It is important when judging anyone to look at the facts. The facts are the following:

One day this individual called to check the status of his order.
When he called, the Customer Service Rep asked what the order number was.

He replied by saying he did not have an order number and he went on to say I also never received an email order confirmation. Our CSR then asked him for his last and first name, address, zip code and phone # hoping to cross reference. When searching, nothing came up.

He then grew irate. He went on to say, That he had to have an order # because he registered with our site.

The CSR explained that it is possible to register on our or any site without actually placing an order.

The CSR then offered the following advice. Either place a new order on the site or on the phone.

The individual said that he would have done that, But that two weeks ago, when he thought he placed an order (which he never did) The cost for shipping was $9.99.

The CSR looked at the item he was interested in. It was a 150 lb Air Conditioner. The CSR said that it was not likley that 2 weeks ago the shipping was $9.99.

The individual on the phone grew irate. He went on to say that if it was not $9.99 he would not place an order. If we did not offer it at $9.99 he would leave negative feedback all over the internet.

A few days passed this individual placed the same rating that you see on this forum on the main resellerratings.com page of shopsunshine.com.



In accordance with resellerratings.com policy, they removed it.

The reason is you have to actually have had to place an order in order to complain about bad service. Because he had no order #. They correctly removed it. Not because he cancelled it, rather because He Never Placed An Order with Our Company.

That is why he turned to this forum. He then went on to post negative remarks on a few other websites as well to ruin our good standing name. If you read his post he clearly stated “I purchased an in-window air conditioner from Shopsunshine.com and because they had a decent rating here at resellerratings.com”


As far as the complaints with the BBB. We service over 25,000 + customers a year. In 3 years we have 56 complaints. Out of 75,000 customers we have 56 complaints. I think I would take those odds with any company.



In conclusion, this is a case of someone trying to bully his way into getting a shipping price that either changed or he misunderstood.

Till today, he cannot provide an order number to us,resellerratings.com or any one who responded to his posting. It is obvious he never placed any order on our site. If he did then we would have honored the price.

I suppose I was lucky. I recently bought a camera package from this company. I had no problems with there service or there products. I had one issue they sent me the wrong size filters. They quickly corrected it. They were responsive to emails.

Pleasantly Surprised!! After checking out several online stores for a Mitsubishi WD-73927 73" projection DLP TV and working my way up from $3995 and reading horror stories from past customers and nothing but negative feedback I worked my way up to shopsunshine.com which listed the TV at $5079.95. What gave me the courage to risk my hard earned money with these people was the fact that they answered all negative feedback with reasonable responses and really seemed to care what people thought about them. Abe was my salesman(ext 123)he acted professionally he did try to get me to buy the extended warranty which actually a better deal than the mfg warranty but I explained I was on a very limited budget and that I had called Mitsubishi and was told I had upto 13 months to buy the Ext. Warr. from them whereas I had to purchase the sunshine war. at the time of the sale. He also tried to get me to upgrade the shipping but I explained that I needed the 2 weeks to build a stand for the TV as I was not comfortable putting a 165 lb tv on a glass stand with 3 large dogs in the house. Even though he tried hard for me to purchase the "extras" he was not overbearing. To my surprise the TV arrived on the 27th of july (early) in excellent condition and the driver waited patiently while I unpacked it to inspect the screen and for any damage not visable on the case it came in. I had it up and running the next day after reading all the info that came with it. I was concerned it did not include a warrany card or paper and called Mitsubishi and they informed me they don't send one with the TV that I would recieve it after I registered the TV with them. Would I do business with them again? DEFINATELY!!!!!

Sunshine did right by me.

I am not a person who will shy away from calling a crook a crook, but I must say that I purchased a $2200 Sony TV from ShopSunshine a little over 2 years ago and they did everything they said they would. The price was excellent. The TV was shipped by truck Freight at a reasonable fee and arrived on schedule in perfect condition. I would buy from them again based on my experience. I admit to being anxious about the deal prior to receiving the merchandise but it turned out to be a sweet one.

I have done some bitching here about a deal from hell with another company but I'm pretty impressed by the fact that the manager of Sunshine would leave his personal contact info here for anyone with problems. We sometimes forget to praise the companies that operate with high ethical standards and so I tip my hat to ShopSunshine.

Shop Sunshine Horrific Company

Hello Prospective Customers,
I am here to warn strongly against using the ShopSunshine website or company to purchase anything. I am currently employed with the military and am on a base in the middle of Afghanistan as I am writing this. I placed an order with this company on 7 January 2007 for a Nikon D80 camera package it has offered on EBay. As of today January 26 2007, I have yet to receive and confirmation of a ship date for this purchase. I have sent several emails, some not so nice I will admit since I have been ignored consistently. I have talked to them on the phone as well. The only thing they will tell me on the phone is that it has shipped but no date that it was shipped out on. This package was about 1400 USD. Maybe to some people that is not a lot of money but to me it is a good deal. I would expect that no matter the price, any company with the least bit of professionalism or concern about their customers would be attentive to the customer and keep them updated on the progress of the order regularly or at the least when the customer asks.
I have requested to either have the shipped on date sent to me or to have my money refunded so I may obtain what I want from a company that is willing to do business the way it is supposed to be done. I cannot tell you why this company is the way it is but I can relate my experience to anyone researching this company. It may cost you 10 or 20 dollars more elsewhere but the sense of satisfaction with the customer service and the overall confidence that you will receive your order is well worth it.
I see there are some posts here stating they have had no problems with their orders and that is good however is the goal of a successful retail business to provide the customer with a satisfactory experience, the lowest price, and best quality merchandise available? Even though there are many satisfied people posting. Does the fact that there are also many others posting "Horrific" experiences with them say something. I say it does. I wish I would have read these places before I purchased and saved myself some time and aggravation not to mention the loss of money I have worked very hard to get. I don’t expect you to not shop just because of my post but do yourself a favor and make sure you research this company very well before purchasing. I have sent my latest email to them today and pasted a copy to the bottom of this post for all to see. I will be updating it every 24 hours to let you all know the progress and service you should expect.

My name is Ben Massey and I placed an order from your store via the phone on January 07th 2007. As you can see it is now The 26th and I have received no notification of the shipped date on my item. A Nikon D80 package from EBay. I ended up spending a total of $1,357.98 on this item purchasing an extended warranty etc.. I have written emails to you several times via www.shopsunshine.com and have received but one reply stating they will look into the tracking number and send it to me. This email was 7 days ago and have heard nothing since then even after sending in more emails asking again. I have called your store, a very obnoxious man who's name I do not remember put me on hold to look up my order and obviously forgot me or never intended to look in the first place because 20 minutes later another person named Jason (I think) answered and asked me if I have been helped. He was much more polite and seemed to be genuinely interested in carrying out this most basic of functions when running a business. All he would tell me is that it has shipped but no date it shipped on and hung up.
I do not expect a tracking number from you as I am currently working on a small military base in the middle of Afghanistan so my package will ship regular mail and I know would take a bit longer to reach me. However the thing that really infuriates me is that there is no concern whatsoever shown by your employees to the following up once someone has spent their money with you. I would like to know WHEN my package was shipped. If it has not for some reason the I would at the very least expect some sort of notification as to why that is and when it will ship. If these simple requests can not be met then I would like your company to refund my purchase in full and I will gladly take my business somewhere that is willing to show the level of professionalism I think the customer deserves. I have taken the day off of work to spend it surfing the web and rating your company / website for the experience that has resulted from this transaction. I found this email address on www.resellerratings.com and will posting this message along with some other comments there and everywhere else I can find on the net that is taking comments from customers. I think of myself to be a fair and objective person but this transaction without a doubt has been the most pitiful online shopping experience I have ever had. Below you will find my order number so you may look into this matter if you choose to do so. I will appreciate any assistance you can give me on this matter ASAP.

In this time i think i beleive the first poster. I thru my experiance know that if they are so good of a company the BBB would not have a bad record on them. The post after the owner seem a bit strange that all of a sudden they see this thread and come post in it about them. My thoughts are he has more than 1 id or has employees that have ids and then came in here and followed up his own post with the other positives. Seems the last poster didnt get a confirmation email either. Also rr wont allow a rating unless the person was actually charged not if he only placed an order then cancelled it or it didnt go thru so thats the reason the rating was pulled not that he didnt have an order# it was that his cc was never charged.
