REBATE SCAM from WIREFLY
BUYERS BEWARE**** Stay Away from Wirefly***On Jan 20, 2006 I purchased two Motorolla Razr V3 phones and a T-Mobile subscription from www.Wirefly.com and was promised two $90 customer appreciation rebates (one for each phone) if I follow all the requirements for the submission. I meticulously followed their instructions, that is waited for 60 days after activation, filled in all the necessary paper work and included copies of the bills and UPC barcodes and sent my rebate submissions. They provided web site address www.cellphonerebates.com where the status of the rebate could be checked.
After about 3 weeks from my submission of the rebate I check the site and found that my submissions were registered and assigned sumbission id. It also said that the submissions were being processed. I checked the site from time to time and always got the same message about my rebate status "We have received your submission and it is being processed".
In the rebate form it was written that the checks would be mailed within 150 days from activation date or 10 weeks of their receipt of the completed rebate form. After all the deadlines passed I sent an e-mail asking about my rebate status and even got a response from them reassuring me that the rebates were approved but they couldn't say when the checks would be mailed. I waited and checked their site patiently until one day when I found that there is no track of my submissions on their redesigned site. By the way, the new site does not provide any contact information or e-mail forms to inquire about the rebate status. I called (866) 800-4303 - the contact No. on the rebate form - the recording prompted me to call (866) 607 9877 which was constantly busy and on Wirefly web site they do not deal with rebates and send you to cellphonerebates.com. I tried to call them but was told the same thing, that is to check on-line.
Thus, after 6 months, I still haven't received my rebates and they have not responded to my inquiries. Clearly this website is conducting a SCAM and they are RIPPING OFF innocent buyers like me.

I'm having a similar experience. Bought 2 razr in February from Wirefly, followed all the rebate instructions, 2 for $70 and 2 for $130 so basically end up getting the phones for free. I've received my 2 for $70. I've since moved since submitting them and that may have lead to "some" of the delay. I sent the rebate registered mail. They received my $130 rebates forms on 8/28/06. I've called the phone number at cellphonerebates.com and they have been useless, but did say they show the checks being mailed from their headquarters. I spoke to a woman yesterday at the 866-274-8573 who said the rebates had been approved and I would receive my checks within a week. I'll be calling again to day to see if I get a consistant reply.
I'll let you know how I make out.

New number to contact
I tried calling the 866-274-8573 today and receive an automated attendant to which you can only leave a voice message.
I called the 202-333-0001 number and Lauren picked up right away. Explained I'm looking for my rebates checks that I sent them registered mail and they have had them since August 28th. She gave me a number to the "office of the president" Errol at 703-636-4737. Received a voice mail, which did not say who it was, but left a message there.
To be continued I guess...

Skyland, welcome to RR.

| This company is already in court for NOT honoring it's rebates. My advise would be to contact the Office of the Attorney General for the City of Washington, DC at http://oag.dc.gov/occ/cwp/view,a,122...av,|31688|.asp
before the deadline to file is up. Once the deadline passes you will be on your own. Odds are that at this time you may not get your rebate (that is up to the courts to decide), but you can at least help others that may get into the same fix as you in the future.

I too have found out the hardway about the scams of Wirefly and their proposed rebates. I have been waiting for several months for two rebates totaling $200 for my purchase of the 700W Treo. One of the reasons I purchased the palm was that I figured the price after my rebates would be that of any other phone instead I ended up scammed and paying way more than I could really afford for a phone upgrade.

Number to call
Call the 866-274-8573 number. When I've spoke to anyone at that number they have been very helpful and provided tracking numbers and statuses of my rebates. I have received all but $80 of my 4 rebates. They did switch companies that handle their rebates to that could account for the delay people are seeing.
