Disputing through eBay...

I bought some laser toner cartridges from a seller on eBay two weeks ago. Last thursday or so, I sent him an e-mail stating whether or not he shipped the item and what carrier he used. Since I didn't receive a reply over the weekend, I sent him a message through eBay today this time telling him that if I don't receive the item this I will dispute through PayPal or call my credit card for a chargeback on this auction. I don't understand why this seller doesn't respond to my messages anymore. He has 500 feedback and no complaints. He responded so quickly when he wanted an additional $10 for shipping (the original auction only asked $5 for shipping, but he claims he tried to change it to $15 before the auction ending, but couldn't do it...). He also gave me a chance to back out of the deal, but I didn't want to since it was a good price for the toner cartridges. I noticed that eBay has a dispute process. Should I go through that or should I just call for a chargeback if I don't receive my item by the end of this week? I have never had any problems (even when I ordered from a seller in Japan) of items coming within a week of having paid for them. This is really getting on my nerves.

Trinkets is infamous around these parts
Hi,You can always file for a chargeback. Right now Ebay has alot of sellers that use these so called affilaite companies. Actually they have the orders shipped from another company right to the Ebay buyer. Hundreds of sellers have lost their Ebay accounts, and stores. Are you familiar with ripp off.com? Just check it out. This is a real shame. All the while Ebay is making all the profits, then when the sellers receive the negative feedback, they close their Ebay accounts. This has been going on for awhile. Try to contact your seller from Ebay and ask if they actually have the item available. Maybe the seller lives in an area where there is a natural disaster,I do know hundreds of thousands of people are going through floods, etc. I do not know where your sellers lives. Or maybe their supplier changed their price, and the seller may have been actually already charged themself for the item. The seller themself might be a victim, and ordered this from another company. This is where most sellers receive their negative feedback, for items shipped late,or they have to refund and state the item is no longer available. Their are hundreds of Ebay sellers that have been victimized. It's all plain to see at rip off.com. So, ask your seller honestly let them know you are trying to work with them.If they have offered a refund their must be something going on with were they receive their products. It may be best to accept your refund. You can always advise them if they are able to get the item back in stock to let you know. If you have paid with paypal, you can file a dispute with paypal for an item you have paid for and never received. Paypal then takes the money, the amount you paid for the toner from the seller, and places that exact amount on hold. The seller will have 10 days to either refund your payment,or provide tracking for your toner. If the seller is involved in an emergency, and is unable to respond to you,if a case is filed with paypal, paypal will refund your money after the time frame even if they can not communicate with the seller. I wish you the best!

Best thing to do is check and see if the seller has been listing other items or bidding on anything. If you see he has been on ebay and his computer than it is no exuse for not emailing you back. If he hasnt been on ebay and is obviously a strong seller than something has probably come up in his life. Also try and look up his contact information and give him a call. Disputes and chargebacks should be last resort.
