STAY AWAY FROM ALIENWARE

If there is any company that I would recommend less, I cannot bring the name to mind. After having owned an Alienware computer for a year I have to admit that it is the worst thing I have ever dealt with. Amazing to spend nearly $4000 for a piece of junk but here it is.

Alienware 7700-M (Fully Loaded, Raid, 2 GB Memory, Fastest processors, video, etc all).
Purchased in January 2005.
Dead by March 2005
Sent in Summer 2005
Sent back reformatted (I cannot recall what they repaired/replaced)
Used for another few weeks. Dead again
Sent in again, sent back reformatted (Replaced motherboard/CPU)
Used again, this time a good month. Dead again (Who knows what they will replace now. Who cares, it is obviously a piece of junk).
Call tech support. What do they say, not to worry, try reseating the videocard/motherboard/who knows what.

Why spend thousands of dollars so you can become a hardware tech yourself? If you are interested in taking on that as a hobby then purchase from them. If you have money to throw away then this is the place to go. I am sure they will help you out. Want a working computer, there are many companies out there. They cannot possibly all be this pathetic. This is probably my 15th computer. Many companies, few problems, this company, and you end up with nothing but a large hunk of junk.

If you do purchase you better get the extended warranty. You will need it. The one upside? I am getting my moneys worth on the warranty. The down side? I have spent thousands and have nothing but headache to show for it.

Check the web, I am far from alone. Do yourself a favor, buy elsewhere.

So you know, no hardcore games played. Latest cause of trouble, attempting to copy files under explorer. Then it locks up. Working hard when this happened? Not sure as I was going to select files when it locked up. Perhaps a poor selection? Power down, power back and nothing. Just sits there. No OS, no BIOS, nada. Power off leave a few minutes, power back, goes to IDE drive (starting to boot) then locks up, power off, power back, no screen, power off, power back it boots. 5 minutes later it is dead again. Same story. Pure Junk. Just very expensive junk. Anyone want a fully loaded 7700-M under warranty? I will entertain anything that covers shipping.

You're far from the first I've heard this from.Been shopping for a new system, when I saw their outrageous prices and read the customer ratings I dropped them from my list real fast!Don't think they'll improve much now that Dell bought them, considering Dell's less than great ratings.

HOPE this helps anyone that buy this junk

I bought a computer from alienware on January 16, and got it on this last june 18 after many shipping mistakes and when I took it out the box it would not post so I called customer service there and I talked to some lady telling me that I could not return my computer because I had to troubleshoot it. so she transferred me to Tech support where they told me there computer systems were down and that I had to call back within 2 hours to see if there systems were back online , no surprise there they must have been running alienware computer for there systems , so then I called back after 2 hours of waiting back to customer sevice department where they denied me again to return my system, you figure if a piece of merchandize is bad you would be able to return it, without alot of hassle but that was not my case. I finally gave in and was transferred to some guy in Tech support he's English was so bad that I could barely understand him I think he name was Tony or something like that , i was so frustrated with him not being able to understand me, and so he put someone else on the phone and the next guy kept me on the fone for 4 hours wlaking me through what I though was an endless and mind numbing troubleshooting of my computer anyways after that th guy gave me some emails as to who was the right person to bitch to was because even though I was very unhappy and extremely disturbed that someone might sell me a

COMPLETE DOORSTOP of a computer, I knew that is was not the guys fault I was so disallusioned with my computer that I spent 5,000 dollars on
so I am posting this emails in hope that it will help someone in the future that has been ripped off by alienware.

first off I got

president@ alienware.com , this is supposed to be the president of Alienware's email.

then I also got alex@ alienware.com another top dog in charge.

want to bitch out the poor bastard in charge of I.T. at the alienware call center just like I did, since I had to wait 2 hours because the computers were down. here is his email

antonio_osorio@ alienware.com

how about the customer service manager >/?

alexis_garcia@ alienware.com

awww and my favorite the one that got me some results,

the customer service followup manager

james_saunders@ alienware.com

after some digging I found out that most this people are not in the states but in some place in Costa Rica which to me sucks and explains why I had such a hard time understanding the first tech that got on the line with me.

Alienware is a company that will take your money first and make excuses later so watch out, I thought this info would help any and other people who got desperate after trying to do things the nice way, sometimes you have to get tuff, I would email this people to get some results. or do what I did complain, complain, complain , until you get your money back , but most of all complain to the right people,,, and don't buy alienware ever again, thanks tone the only person over there that help me.

From the BBB.org
Quote:
Consumer complaints allege upon ordering and receiving new computers they are found in operable and/or they become in operable shortly after delivery. Complaints also allege that the company refuses to exchange the product with another one or refund the consumer's money without charging a 15% restocking fee for the newly received inoperable computer. Other complaints allege that after sending the computer back to the Depot for repairs they receive it back in a the same non working order or that various drives or software are missing upon receipt from the Depot. Other complaints further state that customer service representatives at Alienware refuse to transfer or let them speak with supervisors or management to resolve issues.

You can read my prev post, no need to post again

http://www.resellerratings.com/forum...71&postcount=8

I took a few off the list (out of business or services going downhill) but all the ones listed are good, they'd love to have your business, why shop at Alienware (especially now it's part of Dell)
