PC surplus and Tiger Direct
I recently gave a little business to each of these online stores. They were first time purchases and also last's.
PC surplus is a bait and switch store who also(i did not know this till after the purchase) are a Ebay store. I purchased a used tower from them for my kid and the tower they sent was not even close.
When I call and complain I am told people will call me back for a RMA or a solution. Never happens. Everytime these people said they would call they did not. Finally when I called and spoke with someone who was there to help (after I sent a email with a BBB threat) I was told to ship the tower back at my cost. Or deal with it and they would offer something for the problem. They offered to send me 512mb ram for the tower. I agreed to this. The ram arrived and was only 256mb. A call back to them and they said "sorry all we see on file is a order for 256" In short They are BATE AND SWITCH CROOKS.
Now onto the store it seems everyone is complaining about. I cannot believe authorities have not attacked this company. TIGER DIRECT. This outfit is a notorious bate and switch. They also make false and fraudulent statements on there site, and offer bogus rebate promotions. I think this is Tigers new rip off tool. In the past I have heard they would stop packages enroute to delivery because they realized they were selling items way to low. And never refund money or send items out. This was landing them in hot water I believe. So now they attach rebates to almost everything they sell and only will honor the ones that do not put the item price to low after rebate is paid.
I would stay away from both these stores. Unless you like paying for one thing and getting another? or you don't mind paying more for a item and never receiving your rebate?
Tigers customer service has also obviously been trained to not be helpful at all. These people are rude, non helpful, and many times if you get frustrated or a bit angry they just hang up. If you send emails to them they will eventually place your email in a spam block list. There sister company who handles rebates (Onrebate.com)does not answer phones nor emails and they also use the spam block feature.
Avoid them or be ripped off thats all I can say...............
