Alternatives to Newegg?

I'm looking for a store with fast shipping, great customer service and good prices to start transfering my newegg business to.

Newegg has seemed to get progressively worse. Lately I've gotten horrible packing, slow shipping, broken and or used parts sold as new, and bad RMA procedures. The computer I'm building right now for a customer is actually going to cost me money to sell and it's a week behind schedule

yeah zip zoom fly is good

alot of these problems can be attributed to them switching from FedEx to UPS, the only time I really use newegg anymore is if it's the cheapest when you add fed ex shipping

How about for cases? Namely Antec.. I tried using ZZF and everything was free shipping until I added a case. When I added a case, it added shipping to every item. I realize I could place two orders but I shouldn't have to for something like that. I did order some ram from ZZF about two weeks ago and was very happy with the transaction.

I have been falling back to newegg because I've always trusted them. After today, I really need to find a new favorite shop.

Every time I order from Newegg my order is delivered on time, and in perfect shape! I use Fed Ex as a shipper, and have never had a problem. I switched from Tiger Direct for the reasons you stated above! If you order Referbished parts of coarse they are used. I've never ordered ordered a referbished part--always new, and that's what I recieve from Newegg every time.

They are usually good to me, but in the past they sent me a ~$350 retail LCD monitor that had 3 old shipping labels covered up. It was covered in dust and had finger prints all over the screen. It was definately used.

Now I have a DOA Antec power supply. Upon further inspection, I find out the "warranty void if removed" sticker is broken. Whats up with that? I didn't open it. I have no reason to try to pull a fast one on them. I've spent many thousands of dollars there.

The last package I received had no peanuts and no tape on the bubble wrap. An OEM hard drive was flopping around in a big box. The media center remote control was also out of it's package. I thought the motherboard they sent me was bad, but it turned out to be the power supply. I ordered another board and paid $27 to have it overnighted to me. Now I've got 2 motherboards and a dead power supply. I admit, I should have checked the power supply better before ordering another board. In the past, I've never gotten a DOA Antec and it did spin the fans and hard drive so I assumed it was good.

I've been promised various credits from various people and have so far received $2.99 for my rush order fee that wasn't rushed, and $10.00 as a show of good faith for the rediculously poor packing job.

Emails to service@newegg take 2 days for a response and phone support is unwilling to provide good service. All I ask for is working retail parts in a timely manner.

I agree , while I havent had any bad luck with Newegg in the past , their customer support is seriously lacking in the consumer oriented department. Their switch from 3 day Fedex to 3 day UPS is horrible. I dont mind paying a slightly higher price to use Fed Ex.

And email responses from them have taken as long as 4 days

I agree. In the last month I've had 4 rma's total. I can't really blame them I guess, because it's all been the fault of the manufacturer (i think). lol. All I know, is that I'm getting sick of it. I've been looking around and I don't like anyones site as much as neweggs...it's so much easier to use. for example, at zzf you can't sort the processors by socket type.... nor can you sort the motherboards by chipset. So if I want a socket 939 mobo with an nforce 4 ultra chipset, I can't just sort it that way...grrrr. I've only started looking tonight after seeing this post though. I thought I was just unlucky lately (as happens from time to time) but it seems to be more widespread . anyways...just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a replacement for newegg that's just as simple and functional!! thanks guys!

Just tonight , I think it was tonight , they changed the layout of their site , slightly , they have a new search feature , etc , that looks really intimidating.

I emailed the webmaster , with a screenshot.

The first email failed , however , after that , i got an immediate response from a marketing director that was probably an auto response titled Endeca Search Response :

Thank you for contacting Newegg.com.
We have added a "Guided Search" as one of our search options. This feature is provided as a guide for our customer to basically "drill down" to a specific set of products they are searching for out of our wide selection.

Keep in mind that besides this is an added feature, we still maintain our 2 other search features, namely: Advance Category Search and Power Search. The Advanced Category Search (drop-down menu style) link is located to the right of"Guided Search" option, and so on.

You may choose your desired search method from the 3 links in the grey catagory bar.
Note that we have not taken away any search features from our site, but have added 1 new option. Also the new option vastly improves KEYWORD searches. Try it today! Find the product you are looking for in fewer steps.
Thanks again for writing to us. If you have any suggestions to improve our newly added feature, please don't hesitate to contact us again.
