Displaying a RR Platinum plus logo, when they only rate Gold?

I went to https://www.computerbrain.com and at the top of every page, they have a RESELLERRATINGS logo with a "Platinum Plus" logo right next to it. They don't rate a Platinum Plus here at RESELLERRATINGS, only Gold.

Isn't that a little misleading.

P.S. I tried to buy a $35 (shipped) HDMI cable there, yesterday, and got a message on my phone asking me to call and verify (for a friggin' $35 order). I HATE places that do this, it IS NOT for your protection, it's for theirs, and after reading the reviews for them, it looks like they do it an awful lot. I spend hundreds of dollars a month on line (this month I have bought from 9 different resellers for the first time), and nobody else ever sees the need to call me, certainly not for a $35 order.

Can I borrow your card? I don't mind calling

How much does order have to be before you wouldn't mind calling?

With the rampant fraud and identity theft occurring these days how can a merchant personally verifying your order be a bad thing? It's not only for their protection, it's for yours, as well.

If you hate doing this so much, you'd probably be better off shopping at brick and mortar stores - where they will, or should, also verify your identity during the payment process.

Again, point was completely missed.

Do you think there is a lot of CC fraud, where a person uses somebody elses CC to order a $35 part, and has it shipped to the address of the CC owner? really?

Can you explain why 9 out of 10 online retailers that I have dealt with, in the last month or so, don't see a need to call me, even when the order is several hundred dollars?

Do you have a clue at all as to what your liability is? Because it is zero.

Some people work during normal business hours. I happen to be one of them. So I can't call them from home, which is what they want (using caller ID to "verify"), and I don't make non essential personal calls from work, just to have to navigate through a phone menue system, and be put on hold for several minutes.

So if you want to waste extra time and effort just to give a reseller a warm fuzzy, when it benifit's you exactly not at all, go ahead, but maybe keep your snide little comments to yourself.

Sorry that you took my attempt to be helpful as snide.

Yes, I believe that a thief will order anything at any price. In fact, it's usally the smaller amounts that allow thieves to get away with their thefts.

Did you try explaining your work-hours situation with the merchant? Perhaps they would/could arrange to call you when you are at home.

martmann, are you basically ranting about your horrible gut wrenching experience or do you simply need someone to point out DON'T SHOP THERE AGAIN?

I already came to that conclusion Einstein.

Gosh if only there was a web site where people could share their buying experiences with others, so that both good and bad e-tailers could be brought to light, so that everybody's buying experience could be better.

You don't want my input, fine, but you should maybe learn something about transaction authorization, and fraud before you go berating people about it, because your statements here, show how little you know about that subject.

Making you call to verify a credit card transaction that is BEING SHIPPED TO THE CREDIT CARD OWNER'S BILLING ADDRESS (which is VERIFIED without calling anybody), IS NOT A SEDRVICE TO YOU, it DOES NOT PROTECT YOU, it is merely an inconvenience. That's all I was saying with my OP, if you disagree fine, buy from them.

I'll buy from the thousand of other businesses that make it easy for me to buy from, you can keep these other idiots in business if you want. God forbid you learn something.

You can reply to this if you want, but I am not monitoring this thread any more.

ddhconsult is infamous around these parts
No Problemo...

Perhaps their practices have changed...just bought two items for less than $100; no calls and no problems. Got two separate packages, but only found one tracking # on their site (after the promised tracking e-mail didn't show up ) but hey, they both got here pretty quick. I'm happy.
