Get the XFX 6600Gt. Its the best for under 150. Its on newegg too. This is for AGP though, I'm not sure about PCI Express.

DDR3 is just faster. I believe 256mb just gives you more memory to run games on.
I suggest you get this.

Nah dont get that, get that 6600gt I showed you. It will be worth it, and besides that one is a regular 6600 from what I can see. You could overclock it but I wouldn't do that if I did not know what I was doing.

Ok, let's update this thread. I've got $150 burning a hole in my pocket to buy a component for my new system. Shoudl I get the AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice from Newegg for $146 shipped, wait a bit longer, or get a video card? I've been dogging that X800 link that Rob posted from ZipZoomFly for $100 AR but I fear it's dried up. I've got an AsRock MOBO but still need a vid card, CPU, and memory. I feel the vid card can wait because I can use an AGP I have for the time being as this board will do either. I'll also be looking for a deal on an SATA hdd but those deals come around often.

I guess it depends if you are a gamer or not. If you're a gamer go for the g-card. If you're just looking for faster speed for comp apps or such then get the cpu. I wouldn't get the 3000+ though. Wait til the 3200+ is cheaper then get that.

UPDATE

OK, I finally got off the pot. This is what I got which will come to $131.17 shipped after rebate. Also got the Crucial 1 GB kit from ZipZoomFly for $83.20 shipped. How'd I do? Only major component now is the CPU but will have to wait till next payday on the 15th. What do you suppose the $150 sweet spot will be at that time? BTW, looking at www.pricewatch.com I see several 3200+ cpu's (see below) listed for about the same price but are described differently. Any clues? Thanks

$153 - athlon 64 3400
$139 - athlon 64 3200
$150 - athlon 64 3200 939pin
$150 - athlon 64 3200 90nm 939pin
$150 - athlon 64 3200 512k 90nm rev e

they're all the same basically, just one place might be more reliable than the other. The only place I trust is basically newegg, and zipzoomfly.
