Please don't buy a AW computer.....!!!!

If you want the very best IMOP its Falcon Northwest!!! (Hands down)

Just do some reading here and you will get the point about AW, Dell..etc.

Oh, and my call name is falcon_2004 for a reason

First off, stay away from alienware, the only reason you know about them is the fact that they have good advertising. Past that they are a mediocre company with subpar service and overpriced machines.

If price is really no problem there are litterally dozens of better manufacturers. Companies such as Velocity Micro, OverdrivePC.com, and even ibuypower.com offer high customizability good support and quality for the price you pay.

For a pure gaming experience the best components you can get in your machine would include an AMD FX-57, two 7800GTX in SLI, at least 1GB of RAM and a couple 10k 74GB Western Digital Raptor hard drives. Mass storage can be obtained with on of many solutions, but an extra 300GB or 400GB standard(my preference is seagate, but a manufacturer usually chooses the type) HD would suffice for almost anyone. Stay away from Pentium 4 for a machine geared for gaming.

As far as the setup that I would recommend it would include an Athlon 64 X2 4800+ which has two cores(two cpus on one die). A very worthwhile investment in my opinion. Personally if I had an ulimited budget and didn't want to build myself(which is the best option) I would find a local PC shop to build me my dream machine.

As far as a laptop goes the Dell XPS Gen2 is one of the highest performing notebooks you can buy. But my personal recommendation for quality and high performance would be Sager which can be found at powernotebooks.com. Any laptop you get make sure it has the highest clocked Pentium-M or Turion64 CPU you can find. Stay away from the heatpump otherwise known as the Pentium 4.

If you buy a laptop, the Dell Inspiron XPS Gen2 is a much better buy than the alienware, but then again Sager is better yet.

If you want a real gaming desktop don't even think about Dell. They have poor support, are overpriced generally don't pay enough personal attention to a buyer, heck, I could build a much better computer than them.

This setup is from www.Velocitymicro.com and it doesn't get a whole lot better than this. Of course accessories like kickass speakers and a nice set of headphones can be added, but as far as the computer itself this will blow the Dell XPS Gen 5 WAYYY out of the water. I'm also not saying this is the absolute best you can find, but you'd be hardpressed to find one that will noticably perform better than this. Anything else would just be bragging rights.
