Warrenty problem-invalid serial on OEM HardDrive

Hi, first post here. ^_^; I recently discovered that the serial number of the Seagate hard drive I have been using is not valid in Seagate's database.

I ordered it from Memorylabs.net. It turned out to be a factory recertified drive; I thought that what the heck, since it's an OEM, and it was usable when I linked it to my computer. But recently, it starts to have problems, and from my past experiences with other failed Hitachi drives, I know that it would fail sooner or later, so I went to Seagate's website and tried to look up the serial and model number for checking the warrenty. Not only was the model number that recognized, but the serial was invalid. And when I looked up the serial number by Segate's tools, the serial was displayed as "0broker0". When I contacted Seagate's warrenty phoneline, the representative told me that the serial number should start with 3 something, not 6 something--here's a snapshot of the hard drive. I called up Memorylabs.net the next day, and the representative looked up the transaction, asked me for my contact number, and told me he'll have "someone look into it."

Right now, I haven't received any call from them. And the transaction date shown on my credit card is 06/30/2004. I don't know whether a factory recertified drive can have a warrenty longer than 1 year or not. But I'm having doubt whether the Memorylabs.net sold me a valid drive with warrenty as they promised. Is there anything else I can do to get the drive's warrenty? Thanks for reading this.

First off, "I know that it would fail sooner or later" isn't a valid reason to return a drive. Even if you can get Memorylads to take it back they'll probably test it. If it passes, they'll send it right back to you.
