As the title implies I'm a bit upset that a deal that was posted to this site by the Reseller team involving a free $250 gift card is now causing me to get a drastic amount of spam. If I had seen the deal anywhere but here I wouldn't have given it a second look but I trusted the source and naturally assumed they had checked it out and were giving it their blessing. Word of caution: don't give out your e-mail address to anyone even when you trust the source. I'm disapponted guys.

Without knowing which site / deal you're referencing, I must ask:

1. Did you read that site's privacy policies, terms of use, and/or verify that you didn't, either voluntarily or inadvertently, agree to receive solicitations or other offers?

2. How are you absolutely certain that this unnamed deal site is the one which caused you to receive spam?

I fail to correlate how our posting a deal puts the responsbility on us for your receiving spam.

ResellerRatings posts great deals found at resellers' stores. One should always take caution and research any site's privacy policies and other terms before giving an email address.

Beyond all other aspects, I am actually more interested in knowing what deal we have posted involving a $250 gift card. Unless it was buried inside a larger generic deal post, I am only showing two distinct gift card promos even being posted to our deal section this year, and those involved Best Buy and Circuit City.

We check out deals to make sure they're legit, but we aren't responsible for the 7,000 online merchants on the web and what privacy/spam practices they may or may not have. We at ResellerRatings never sell or otherwise provide email addresses to any third party.

It also may be a coincidence that you correlated receiving spam with receiving a free gift card. I receive 500 spams a day - best solution is a good spam filter because unfortunately you can't hide from spam no matter where it comes from.
