Ruahrc is on a distinguished road
Can you guys help me price my PC?

I am looking to upgrade my box a little bit (well more than a little, I'm basically getting a new computer) and in the process I would like to sell my current PC. I would like some advice on what I should ask for it in the buy/sell forum, however.

Here's the skinny. The computer is a custom built job, here are the specs:

TBird 1.333GHz "C" (133MHz FSB) processor
ASUS A7V133 mobo
768MB PC133 SDR RAM
ATi 9600Pro 128mb video card
Sound Blaster Audigy 1
WD 80GB 7200rpm HD (ATA, not SATA)
WD 30GB 7200rpm HD (I use this as a backup drive)
LS-120 floptical/floppy disk drive
AOpen 16x slot loading DVD-ROM
TDK 12x10x32 CDRW
NIC
56k Modem
Enermax 300W (Possibly 350W I forget) PSU

The other part of the equation is the case itself. I have done pretty extensive modding to the system, including a custom paint job, fan speed switches on the front panel, and a watercooler. You can view some pics of the setup in the gallery (http://www.techimo.com/photo/showgal...hen=&whenterm=) Look at the pictures of "Blue v2". I did a small upgrade to the cosmetics and the watercooler after the original painting, hence "v2". The blue paint job was done by me as were all case mods. This case was originally beige and housed an AMD 233MHz system when I bought it new. The internals are pretty much what is in there now with the exception of the HDs, some RAM and the video card. But same layout.

As you can see I feel that despite the dated hardware (some of it at least is modern ) that I could get a fairly decent price as the watercooler and case mods adds a lot of value to the system, and someone could upgrade it to accomodate a modern processor without much difficulty. The watercooler as it is could take my CPU which was around 70-80W thermal dissipation with ease, perhaps a couple of the cooling components would need to be upgraded to accomodate some of the hotter 100+W procs or for OC'ing. The cooling fans in it are very high quality, Papst and Panaflo, with one Vantec Stealth fan in it. The computer was built originally to be very quiet, (and might I say it was quite successful ) so the fans were all the expensive quiet kind .

Anyways my goal is to get $400+shipping for selling the whole thing, more would be great but I might settle for $350 too. Do you think that is a reasonable price to ask for this system? I have been kind of out of the loop for hardware lately so I don't know what a reasonable price would be.

One possibility would be for me to part it out, and sell the case and parts separately. That way buyers who want it for the watercooling ability can get it without all the tag-along hardware. I would then try to sell those individually to get what I could from that. Would you think that $100 is a reasonable price for the case?

I do have refs but they are few and far between as I do not buy/sell hardware often. I have 1 ebay and 2 heatware, but the heatware are from like a year or more ago. they are all positive, however, and I guess I could argue my 1000+ posts here on TechIMO (Been around since the old Sysopt.com days) might help in establishing a good standing with any potential buyers.

Anyways I would appreciate your comments/opinions. Thanks!

PS- Mods: if this is in the wrong forum, please move it to the buy/sell forum. I was not sure if I shoudl have posted it there since it technically is not a formal sale yet but rather a price/interest check.

You should be able to easily find prices for each of those items using www.pricewatch.com

Price Check threads are reserved for "hard-to-find" or items that are getting up there in their age.
