Gigabyte and voodoo3 problems

A guy I work with got a new PC and his kid is going to do some low end games on the old one.The old Pc has a Gigabyte 7ZX version 1.0 mobo, with 64MB SDRAM PC100,Windows ME.I put in a stick of PC100 128MB and a fresh install of win 98se.I have some mobo drivers from the net but can't install them I don't know much about dual BIOS.I also got a old Voodoo3 card installed, with the drivers and can't get out of 640x480 with crapy 8bit graphics.I could use some help.

to start with you posted this in the wrong forum you should have posted in the general tech forum.

Now the motherboard drivers or pretty simple to install just run the executable it will prompt you from there. however there really shouldn't be much need to do that just now. I'd get the rest of the set-up running first.

for the video card drivers you'll need to visit http://www.voodoofiles.com/3dfxhelp.asp sounds like maybe you ahve the wrong drivers installed. You might need to go to an older version or you might have an older version and need a new version

check the device manager and make sure there are no conflicts

edit: scratch that you might need to install the via chipset drivers before doing anything else. Its been awhile since I've used one of these via boards. However as I said you just run the exe dropping it to a folder that easy to find then just run the set-up. It should take care of everything fairly easily

like i said you probably have the wrong drivers for the card. does it show the correct video card in the device manager? some times these older cards require older versions of the drivers to run correctly. Try the website I gave you and see if there is another set of driver files that will work for your card. Also if your using the originals then try the after market or vice versa.

one other note you might just need to reinstall the old drivers. Maybe boot to safe mode and remove the device then re-install it fresh.
