Desktop help..

Im lookin to buy a new desktop..Athlon 64 3000, 1gb ram, 120/160gb HD, 6800 Gt/Ultra, most i can prolly spend is 1500. The problem is theres no where I can get this from. Dell only has a 6800 GTO and the XPS is too much. HP has a 6600 GT (i think), and the rest suck. I know theres newegg but i heard if you build a computer on your own its a hassle to keep it from messing up. Easier for hardware to get damaged, and plus im not some crazy ass over clocker & im not too good with comps. so my Q is where can i get that system from for that price? (ALIENWARE IS TOO MUCH $) lol...LATA

generally when you build your own pc from the case on up...you get the satisfaction of the build itself as well as being able to pick and choose the components YOU want, not the ones available in a specific build ala Dell, Gateway, etc.

If built properly, a home built machine will operate and last just as long as an overprised corporate built machine.

I'm doubting the ability to get what you want for under $1500. Building yourself would give you that and more. The act of building isn't as hard as most think. Troubleshooting is where most new builders have their bad experiences on the off chance that a part arrives bad.
