Which Digital Camera Storage Card?

Hi,
our Toshiba Digital Camera which we have had for a few years uses the "ScanDisk Smart Media" card to store the pictures .

It has become extremely hard to find the Smart Media replacement cards and I guess our camera is becoming obsolete. Other than that it still works fine.

What is the current trend of media cards? Is one technology better and hopefully longer lasting than any other?

The new cameras I have looked at so far is not shedding any light on this.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

The Smart Media Cards are widely available on www.pricewatch.com
go to pricewatch> Memory - Flash and then Smartmedia and the appropriate size. The max size seems to be 128mb. But the 128mb cards are in the $21 to $30 range which doesn't seem to bad to me.

Different Manufacturers have their own offerings. Canon for the most part uses Compact Flash, Olympus uses xD, Sony uses a Mem Stick, others use SD or MMC. None of those formats are going away soon, but I would go for Compact flash or SD based camera. Both medias are getting rediculously cheap. 1GB can be had for as low as $45. I'm partial to Canon cameras, but it really depends on how much you want to spend and what you are looking for in a camera, size, features, optical zoom, warranty.

Digital Camera Storage Card

Thanks for your input.
In the meantime I found a Smart Media Card for a very good price on eBay. Have not found any in all of the stores though.
This leads me to believe that this media is being phased out.
Now that I got the new Smart Media Card I can keep the camera for a while longer.
Will be checking for future references and probably look for the SD type media card in the new camera.
Thanks again!!
