Advice on a Monitor

Hello,
I was curious I just bought the NEC/MITSUBISHI
MultiSync FP2141SB-BK 22-inch CRT Monitor
from Dell and I plug it in and there are two tiny lines
across the top and bottom. I look in the manaul and it
says this is normal shadows from the holding up of the
aperture grill or something like that. Im anal as the reason
on why I wanted a nice crisp monitor. Can anyone tell me what
type of monitor to buy in the 5-800 range that does not
have these lines or this technology. Does anyone else with
a similair or same model have any advice. Im no monitor expert
but paying 700 dollars and then it has tiny lines across it. Does this bother anyone else or what. Thanks for the reply.

If you want a flat screen and a monitor that big you're pretty much stuck. Otherwise LCD or shadowmask CRT's (rounded type, also not as bright) are you're other options. It's something you'll have to live with or buy a different technology. Most people don't notice it after a couple of weeks.

Monitors

Your best bet for something in that range is LCD. Dell just had a deal where they were selling their 20" LCD panel for 604. Check spoofee.com, it's being listed as expired. You might want to watch for the next deal.

Also remember to add 1 to 1.5 inches when you're comparing LCD to CRTS. LCD sizes are from actually bigger because their viewable area is measured from the diagnoll outside the bezel. CRTs are measured in the diagonal of the actual CRT tube and the bezel covers some of that tube. So a 19" LCD is 19" of viewable screen and a 19" CRT could be as little as 17.5" of viewable screen.
