15" LCD same as 17' CRT?

i have an acer f51 lcd, the model says 15" but it looks the same screen size as my 17" crt. i put them next to eachother, even measured diag. and they seem to be the same.

are lcd's measured differently or something?.

part of your screen size on a CRT is generally under the molding. Generally you will find a 17" CRT has a 15'-16" viewable area. where a LCD does not have these same constraints.

Yeah with all the different brands out there it pays of to check the measurements. You can somethimes find 18-19" sized monitors (or TFT's for that matter) sold as 17"
