Any experience with newegg and rebates?

Okay, so I'm looking at buying a video projector for some presentations and maybe a little home theater. I have found 2 places, the lowest price of which is NewEgg on the Benq 6200. However they don't have the mail in rebate listed on their site. I emailed support and they told me "if it's not listed on our site, it can not be claimed on our products" even though it's supposed to be a manufacturer rebate. Any idea if they're claiming this rebate themselves or what? It's a $200 rebate and they're only $50 lower than the next reseller who does have the rebate. Has anyone had a similar situation with NewEgg??

thanks,

John

Food

Ever think of checking with Benq or just reading the fine print on the rebate coupon??? After all, they have the last word and probably list all current rebate promotions on their web site. As always, some rebates are limited to a certain store or chain - best to check w/ Benq.

I don't know about newegg, but I've had a horrible time with Benq rebates. I'd be very careful, and send with delivery confirmation, make copies of everything, and send it out the day you get everything up and running.

well...

I tried calling both...

Benq outsources the rebate and says there's no reason, but they check serials...so if something seems too low...

newegg says if it's not on their site, it's not a valid rebate....

So I've never ordered from them and am worried about getting burned for $200 to save $50, but $50 is still $50 if I can save it...

thanks for both replies, anyone else?
