To start off finding best parts...

Thanks to everyone who encouraged me on last post

I'm thinking about a general-purpose machine around $700~800 w/o monitor.

I've chosen amd64 3000+ for processor, and a Antec case w\ 350w PSU.

but I'm not sure about motherboards. right now i'm looking at ABIT "KV8 Pro" K8T800 Pro Chipset board. Is this good?

Any suggestions?

im not too fimilar with intel boards but i am using a Abit NF7-S and i have my 2400+ @ 2.2Ghz. Abit makes very awesome boards!

To answer the question at hand, the ABIT "KV8 Pro" K8T800 is one of the better boards out there. I doubt you could go wrong with buying it.

Where did you get anything about intel boards from this thread?

whoa..... lol i dont know...... now that i look at it...... lol. wierd. well disregard the Intel thing and replace it with 64 bit systems lol.
