Rigger1015 is on a distinguished road

I am looking to build my own computer for gaming. This is what i have looked into getting so far:

AMD 64 Athlon 64 3200 or a P4 3.2 Ghz Which is better (sounds like AMD)?

Dont know anything about what motherboard to get...

7200 80 Gig hard drive, Heard 7200 is fastest in practicality.

How much Power outage should I supply?

1 Gig of RAM, what is the fastest type? DDR2? Heard Kingston is the best. What does the pins # mean?

ATI 9800 XT 256, seems like this one is the best right now...

Dont know anything about sound cards, would like 5.1 though.

Should I get a packaged deal with the CPU and the motherboard?

Is Newegg the best? Seems like they don't have everything I need, like an ethernet card and such.

Are there actually wirings and such that are included or do I need to buy it all seperatly?

Is there anything I am missing to run the PC in the first place.

Is there a website that can tell me all this and not waste your time with?

Thanks all help is appreciated, I have a small amount of computer knowledge.

The 9800 XT is not the best out right now. Look at the Geforce 6800's or ATI's X800's

Whats your budget?

Most motherboards come with an ethernet port so you wont need a card. The retail ones usually include cables to connect to hard drives and stuff, but I'd get rounded cables if I were you.

For case, one that you think looks nice, and has the features you want (lights, etc). Also make sure it has good room for case fans (most do).

On the vid card, not too sure whats really the best. the 6800's is better with some things (doom 3?) while the x800's are best in others (high AA/AF in some games)

When you say dont really have a budget do you mean you're not sure or that you can get whatever?
