Boycott tigerdirect.com stand up for young ppl across America

I don’t know if many people know this but Tigerdirect.com has 5 outlet stores in the United States. It just so happens that one of the stores is near my home (45min-1hour). I shop there very frequently keeping to myself mostly b/c their sales associate are not the smartest. If you think about that it makes sense why would a middle age man work a 8$ an hour job if he had the goods up stairs, anyways, I purchased a DFI LANparty NFII Ultra B motherboard and brought it home and it was DOA. I tried everything in my power to get this thing to work. So the next morning I take this pile of junk back to the store and the sales associate is getting ready to return my stuff for an exchange when is buddy at the other counter tells him no. It turns out you need a RMA number to return hardware….that’s fine you have to have rules to run a business. So I ask to talk to the manager to see if I can’t ask for a favor because this week along I have dropped 3000 bucks in there.

This is where it gets good……

This guy comes out of the back with a crazy wicked attitude; mind you I have yet to say one word to this gentleman. I plea my story and he says no and walks away while I am in mid sentence….no I am a little upset. I ask the sales associate to use the phone to see if DFI is open to get the number save my self a drive if I can, makes sense to me you be the jugde. so I dial 9 for an outside and all of a sudden I get pushed down and I see this manager with the phone above his head and he throws it down to the ground and it breaks everywhere…..now I am past upset and have moved into dumbfounded

So I leave and go to a nearby store and call the police. The police show up and take his side of the story over mine. And b/c I am a kid that’s the way it went. So as the cop is leaving I ask him so if I would have pushed him would you have cuffed me and put me in the back of the car and he said that employee’s are protected under special laws!?!

Now I decide to cut my loses and just leave I call tiger back for the corporate office b/c I will have the last laugh on this guy. And I inform him that I am never shopping there again. This is what the jerk a$$ says to me. We don’t need your snot nose punk’s business or your friends. I don’t know about you guys/gals but I take that statement personal. If you have ever been jerked around by a business this is your chance to grab them where it hurts.

this is our chance to stand up for ourselves.

But i have had 2 good purchases from Tiger Direct and 1 bad from NewEgg, so i can't complain. But I would get someone else involved and also did you get another board?

Hell...if somebody pushed me down and threw a phone on the ground, I'd sue him just like that. I wouldn't take something like that....and employees aren't protected under "special laws." He just didn't want to deal with you. I think it's time that you get a lawyer involved.

Take advantage of the situation and get something out of this guy's stupidity/anger.

id call a lawyer asap and get a suit going...you realize if you get a good lawyer to play the right angle, you get could rich off this situation. from what you said, what they did sounds extremely damaging.

you gotta come at the company at the right angle, ie: how much the assault on you hurt you not only phisically but emotionally, mentally, etc.

the fact you didnt hit back is also very good, and the fact you have spent alot of money in there also would help your case.

seriously, if this happened to me, id have dollar signs in my eyes and take the company to court ASAP.

get a lawyer, its simple to find one that wont charge you unless they win, look in the phone book and start calling asap.

lawyers love these personal injury type of suits, especially one like this, involving such assault on a minor who was just trying to get his pc part to work.

good luck, money bags.

or, you can bring a civil suit against the police department, employee that pushed you, or both.

what the cop said is TOTAL BULL. i know this because i am in the legal profession. what the cop said has NO legal pillar AT ALL.

i am shocked the cop even said that to you. wow.

you got a real strong case here, whoever you decide to bring it against.

If this went down like you described, I would most definitely retain a lawyer IMMEDIATELY!! If you are a minor, then have your parent(s) contact one. I'm sure Tiger has security cameras all over the store. And no doubt by the service counter. I am sure that a lawyer can subpoena the security tape(s) from that day and time. And if all this was recorded on it, well, you will have a lot of legal leverage. And I would go after both Tiger & the local police (I'm sure the lawyer would do this regardless).

As for Tiger, I used them going back quite a while -- along with my father and other family members. But they started going way down hill. I had several issues with them that got progressively worse each time. So I actively avoid them - even though they do have some nice deals. I outlined some incidences in an eval I posted here a while back. It's a shame because they do have some nice merchandise at great prices. I did use them a short while back for some network patch cables, USB cable, and some blank CD-R disks -- as the price was hard to resist (even with the sales tax applied). But I will never buy any expensive items nor sensitive parts like MBs, CPU, video cards etc.. Long story. But boiled down: the aggravation they caused is just not worth it to save a few bucks.

Anyway, good luck getting this resolved. Don't 'dilly dally' though. If this went down, you need to get on it immediately.
