Talk Digital Cameras

I'm in the market for a digital camera. So oh, wise ones, do have any suggestions on what type or brand is better than another? What do I look for? Please keep in mind that I'm a little tech illiterate. My price range - no higher than $250. Thanks in advance for your help.

The Nikon Coolpix cameras are inexpensive and give great pictures. I recommend the 2100 Coolpix even if it is 2 megapixels. Gives great pictures up to an 8x10.

A good easy camera with lots of features if you get into it more is the Canon A70. It can be had from reputable internet dealers for about $200. It is 3.2Megapixels, has auto and manual focus (very few cameras can do manual), it also has the abillity to take movies in low res for unlimited amounts of time(most cameras limit you to 30sec or less)with a big enough CF(compact flash) card. I love mine and it has treated me well. There is also a slightly newer model that is almost identical called the A75. It can be found at target for $250 and usually comes with some extra goodies like a bigger CF card and some free digital prints from the photo center.

I also second that. I have tried the a70 and a60 at our store and they rock. Nikon is good too. It is just that you gotta choose. Thats the hard part of the purchase :P

It's actually easier for us to tell you what not to buy..... I'd recommend posting here with the type of camera you are planning on buying just in case anyone has any problems with it.
