People have a low opinion of SiS chipsets due to bad experiences back in the Socket 7 days of computing. SiS has long since corrected such problems and now produces probably the best chipsets available from a price-versus-quality standpoint.
A better solution in regards to performance would be a true Intel chipset, but expect to pay considerably more.

Unless you enjoy running synthetic benchmarks, then there is nothing wrong with a SiS chipset motherboard.
