MSI motherboard in Velocity Micro 64 PC
i am starting this thread as a way to possibly let some people know why they may be having problems with their PC if they have a Velocity Micro pc with a MSI MOTHERBOARD in it.
although my review of Velocity Micro has not been posted yet (and it is a very negative one) i have read some other recent negative comments and i'm not sure if some of these reviewers realize what i eventually found out after 2 monthes of hell ,that i had a bad motherboard.
earlier this year Velocity had nothing but GREAT reviews here ,when i ordered my pc ,with an ATHLON 64 3400 on a MSI K8T NEO-FSR motherboard.also 2 -74 gig Raptor hard drives and 2 LITE-ON dvd drives.i paid approx $2,500.
the PC for that first 2 monthes never worked right and the tech support i got blamed everything under the sun except the motherboard. AND there was a reason for this. when you talk to this 24/7 tech support Velocity advertises ,you are talking to ZNET ,a company they have hired to handle their calls. ZNET did not know about the bad MSI motherboards installed in at least some of Velocities PCs BECAUSE VELOCITY NEVER TOLD THEM ! after 2 months of dealing with a PC that had to be reformatted twice ,that i spent at least 50% of my time just troubleshooting ,a call to Velocity and within seconds i was told after looking at my invoice that i needed to bring my PC in for a new ABIT motherboard (i live 30 minutes from their place ,lucky me !)
originally i was told numbers like 1 in 30 ,1 in 50 as to how many of these bad motherboards are out there. later i was told it was 10 ,maybe 13. where they are getting these numbers from ,who knows? but I see reviews here online with people having problems with their Velocity PC's and i wonder if they are having the same problems i had ,and unless you CALL VELOCITY AND ASK ,IT WOULD SEEM NO ONE IS GOING TO LET YOU KNOW.
i returned my PC to the factory on May 6th and had it back on the 12th. ordering from Velocity and them getting my money was easy and smooth and quick.the new installation ,was not so.
it was either the 19th or the 20th ,that i called Znet to see if Velocity had as yet told them about these bad motherboards ,and to let them know that for 2 monthes they had been giving me the wrong answers to my problems. i was told they were there to mainly deal with software issues , but knew nothing of any bad MSI motherboards.the man told me ,Znet's job was suppose to refer me back to Velocity ,but i had never been told to call Velocity. it was after one tech suggested that my RAPTORS were "delicate" that i took it upon myself to call. 2 months too late.
i think people need to know this ,and not so easily accept that their PC is just "quirky" or it's an XP problem or something they have done. if you have a Velocity PC and it is not working right ,skip calling Znet and call VELOCITY.if you have this MSI motherboard ,you really NEED to call. my PC does seem to be fixed ,although i have not used it enough yet to be certain. there are still small problems ,and issues that may be software related. dealing directly with Velocity has not been bad and they are working with me ,so far ,to reslove some things ,BUT this company has made no effort to make up for 2 months worth of time lost and i still don't understand how they could NOT let the people they have hired to handle their service calls know these MSI motherboards may need to be replaced.
