Toshiba laptop, to buy or not to buy

I need a basic laptop. CC and Best Buy are both selling a Toshiba A45S121 for 999 with 200 in rebates. The rebates will be gobbled up by the cost of an extended warranty. I did find out that I could buy just the warranty from Toshiba at slightly less cost. Any projections on whether the prices will be going down on basic models? Should I wait or go with this one. It has everything I would need, just basics.

This is merely opinion but....

I have been keeping an eye on laptop prices for about 4-5 months and in my experience the prices have actually been getting slightly higher. I am not sure if its just the models I am interested in or if its true in all cases.
