Avoid BuyXG.com (XtremeGear)
Ugh... what a nightmare. The Resellerratings.com website is having problems when I try to post the review, so I'll just do it here.
I guess I should have not been lured in by the low prices and just listened to all the bad reviews out there for these scammers...
_________
I bought an Athlon 64 system using their system configurator. The ordering system was a bit vague in the product descriptions (most items didn't note a specific manufacturer) but the prices were great. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that the hassles they offer are worth their low prices.
When ordering, I chose the video card CLEARLY marked as a GeForce FX 5900 128MB, but received the lower-quality GeForce FX 5900XT. I called customer service to ask them to ship me the correct card, and conveniently, they were all out of GeForce FX 5900 cards, and they "wouldn't be ordering any more" (mind you, the card STILL shows up on the Athlon 64 order form, and is also shown as "Usually ships the next business day" when you look at their product catalog). To top it all off, I was told that my only option would be to return my video card and they would refund the value of the cheaper 5900XT card (nearly $200 cheaper than the card I ordered).
I ordered my system with regular shipping, which was to take 5-10 business days. The system didn't ship until 16 business day later (about three-and-a-half weeks). I received my computer about one month after placing my order.
Also, the drivers & utilities CD for my motherboard was not shipped. During my call to customer service, I was told that they would send me a replacement copy. It's still too soon to say if I'll actually get it...
I guess my only consolation is that the system that eventually showed up on my doorstep was in good working condition (so far).
In summary, BUYER BEWARE when buying from XtremeGear. They have attractive prices, but you don't always get what you bargained for. I can honestly say that dealing with them has been my most unpleasant online buying experience.
