Headphone recommendations?

Well, I finally went and bought myself a portable CD player so I could learn some music. Never mind that the shipping was delayed until after the performance - someone lent me one, and it's still good to have my own. But now I should probably also get headphones of my own too.

Any of you have recommendations for something with good sound quality yet still inexpensive (or on miraculous rebate to take it down to my poor level)? While I don't care (as some do!) about fidelity beyond the range of human hearing, it would be very helpful to clearly hear all parts of choral music, along with the intruments accompanying them. Maybe it was the recording I was listening to, but it was hard to hear anything but the soprano.

On a side note (oops, no pun intended, but I'm not going to edit it out now ), I had been thinking about how helpful it would be if one could loop just a few measures of the music, or slow it down - and then was told that such machines exist (albeit for great price). Anyone know about them?

I'd recommend Koss "The Plug" Earbuds. They sound rediculously great for being less than $14. (if it is for a portable)

What is your budget? Koss PortaPros are some of the best for the money. You can get them for about $35 I think.

I have some sony headphones, don't remember what they are called but I got them from Sears for I think $40 or $50 and they are great, kinda big but that is how I like em and they usually block out any extra noises. lol if u got the money bose has some nice expensive headphones u could look into I think they are like $300-$400

Just a small follow-up to my wistful comment about CD players that could help study: While my handy-dandy little player doesn't have a counter or the ability to slow things down, to my astonishment and delight it turns out to have the option of looping five or ten seconds. They call it "language learning mode" but it's just as useful for music. Yay! The player, in case anyone cares, is the iRiver iMP50 that Amazon had on sale with rebate a while back.
