Powerbook now or in 3 months?

I have decided to buy a 12" Powerbook with the Superdrive for college this fall. I will be going to Tulane Unversity's Engineering school and there are no computer requirements, so I figured I'd try something new (I've always been a PC guy). But I've come to realize that the prices for the Powerbook line have not changed much in the last few months. I want some opinions and educated guesses on whether or not I should wait three months or buy it now. Will the price change drastically ($200 or more) in the next few months? Will there be a new line of notebooks (G5?) or an upgrade to the current line?
TIA.

If you buy it now you will have a good amount of time to use it and get used to it before you head out to school. Could be a good time to work out any bugs before you really need to depend on it for school work. Good decision on your purchase. I would love to own a Powerbook but unfortunatly it isn't in my budget. Don't need another cow in the farm either.

Wait for a couple more months. Being a Mac user for a long time, around the time in May-June Apple updates powerbook/desktop models.
But if you really have to have a Mac, check out www.powerbookcentral.com and look for a 12in PB. (powerbook price tracker) Then you can resell it on ebay or here when you want a newer model.

Maybe the Powerbook G5 will come out soon..who knows?

Thanks for the tips guys! It looks like I'll wait another month or two before purchasing. On a side note, is the educational discount from apple my best bet, or should I shop around? (Apple gives $200 off for an educational discount.)

Check out that site I posted earlier.

www.powerbookcentral.com

When you are ready to buy. Usually you get better deals, like free bag, printer, camera, etc, plus AppleCare Discounts. Sometimes if you actually call the people to order, they might even include an education discount. (clubmac, macwarehouse.com, etc)

Hope it helps, Paul
