I didnt know there was a company named "generic". Usually what this means is the part is from a generic, lower quality manufacturer. Kinda like the difference between buying Oreo's or an off brand cookie. Depending on the parts, generic stuff can be OK, but I reccomend buying name brand except for PSU's, cables, keyboards, etc.

I never use PSUs that are includes in cases, I go with Allied or Antec PSUs.
But cables, keyboards, and other small peripherals, generic is OK.

For RAM, I recommend Corsair, Crucial, or Kingston.

yah generic ram might be ok if it was cheaper but its usually only a couple % more for a good brand like crucial or geil optical drives are the same way usually can't really think of anything else oh yah wi-fi cards generic looks good out of the box but stay away from them they don't have too great of a connection
for psu's generic is ok for a budget build but if your gonna spend the $ for a nice system then spend proportionatley on the psu but yah kbs/mice are fine and mabey speakers too if you just play like program sounds and stuff

lol XP760RAM yea made in taiwan sux. China best.
And usually for ram generic is fine if you run stock speeds. My cheap hynix does a bit of O/C up to 434 mhz so they're pretty fine

If you're on a really tight budget Generic is often worth a try, depending on the componet, however more important than the product quite often is the reseller... if you are buying off random crappy sites on pricewatch and the generic part turns out to be bad then you are SOL.
